If something small happens, I will give you a small bowl for doing that work for me. Name said: Give? Give. It's a method. Name said it's a method, I use this basis to practice like Brahma, Name works for wages, thinking this, he regretted and didn't go. After some time, Name had his own business at that cliff. He thought he would go and do those two things and then come back. Name went, did the two things, and came back saying: Long-lived Norgyijin, I have fulfilled your need, please give me a small bowl. Norgyijin said: You went to do your own business, not for my doubts, I will not give it. Name said: If you don't give it, I will take it myself. If I can get it. After a while, when Norgyijin came out, Name took the small bowl and put it in his own bowl. After a while, when Norgyijin came, the small bowl was gone, and he said: Long-lived one, who took my small bowl? Name said: Who is in charge? Who is in charge? I am in charge. Norgyijin scolded: You took it with a stealing mind, you have committed a downfall of defeat. Name thought, haven't I committed a downfall of defeat? Feeling regret, he told the monks about the situation at that time. The monks prayed to the Blessed One, and the Buddha Blessed One rebuked Name: Monk, with what kind of thought did you take that small bowl? He told the Blessed One what had happened, and the Blessed One taught: Monks, the monk thought it was his own and took the small bowl, there is no downfall in this. Also, monks should not do wage work, should they take it like this? They should work for merit. If a monk works for wages, he will commit a serious crime. The Buddha Blessed One was in Jeta Grove in Shravasti.

He was staying in Anathapindika's Garden. In Shravasti, there were two monks named Ajita and Somagupta, who were said to be joking friends and acquaintances. Somagupta was of great renown and merit, and he had a begging bowl, robes, a net, a bowl, and extra belts. Ajita was of little renown and merit, and he insisted on wearing three robes, and his three robes were poor and worn out. The monks said to Ajita: 'Venerable one, if you have little desire, why do you show yourself naked? Is it because you have obtained something, or because you have not obtained something?' Ajita said: 'Because I have not obtained something.' 'Why don't you mend it? Having abandoned the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha, who will give to me?' 'The monk Somagupta is your joking friend and acquaintance, and he has a begging bowl, robes, a net, a bowl, and extra belts, why don't you beg from him?' Ajita said: 'He will not give.' 'Have you begged before?' 'I have never begged.' 'Can you take off your shoes just by hearing the sound of water? Go and beg, and he will give.' Ajita, encouraged by those monks, went to Somagupta and said: 'Venerable Somagupta, please give me a begging bowl.' Somagupta said: 'I will not give.' Ajita said: 'If you will not give a begging bowl, then give me a robe.' Somagupta said: 'Do you think I am a fool? I will not even give you a kind word, let alone a robe.' Ajita scolded him, thinking: 'I should be first in all things, but he said that, not even giving you a kind word, let alone a robe?' Ajita thought, 'If I do not steal all the clothes today, I will not be called Ajita,' so Ajita looked for an opportunity, thinking about when to steal his robes, and kept paying attention to it. After some time, Somagupta was about to do sewing work.

Rapa and Mipam went to Zlawe Sub's place and said: "Venerable Zlawe Sub, I will also be your friend." Zlawe Sub said: "It's okay, do it like that." Mipam would spread out Zlawe Sub's Dharma robes, clean them, guide him, and repeatedly inspect them. Zlawe Sub thought: "This person is inspecting my Dharma robes so repeatedly, I'm afraid it's not without reason, he is stealing my Dharma robes." So, Zlawe Sub, with suspicion, turned the Dharma robes over, put them in a bag, put the bag under his pillow, and slept. The monks did not sleep in the early and late parts of the night, but diligently practiced following the path. Mipam said: "Venerable Zlawe Sub, come, let's go do good deeds together." Zlawe Sub said: "You go first, I'm tired, I'll come later." Mipam said: "Venerable, come!" and then left. Zlawe Sub thought: "If I go, the Dharma robes will be lost; if I don't go, my good deeds will be completely ruined. What can I do so that my Dharma robes will not be lost, and my good deeds will not be ruined?" He thought and realized, so he put his own bag under Mipam's pillow, and put Mipam's bag under his own pillow, and then slept. The monks began to recite scriptures in the late part of the night, and Zlawe Sub said to Mipam: "Venerable Mipam, get up and do good deeds!" Mipam said: "I have already done good deeds, now it's your turn to go and do good deeds, I'm tired, I need to rest." So Zlawe Sub left to do good deeds. Mipam thought: "Now the time seems to have come, is it time to go?" He observed that the time was good, and while Zlawe Sub was away, he took his own bag and left. When the night passed and it dawned, he thought: "I should see what kind of clothes made me commit the sin of defeat." When he saw his own tattered clothes,
