said, "Wise ones, what my father did was done by Indra, was done by Brahma, and is supremely strong." The Shogampas said, "In a certain divine treasury there is a box, and in it there is writing on a copper plate, please let the god see it." The king commanded, "Bring me that copper plate." After taking it and reading it, the king heard the praise of his father, and with tears in his voice said, "Wise ones, what my father did was done by Indra, was done by Brahma, and it is good even if all wealth is lost." Those merchants became hopeless, and cried with tears in their voices. Those people said to those Shogampas, "Wise ones, who instigated you? Tell us!" The Shogampas said, "Who would instigate us? We know it ourselves, but we abandoned you out of compassion. Because you started doing things too much, we developed intolerance." The merchants said, "Where do you have compassion? Tell us, and we will become friends with you." The Shogampas said, "It was the noble six groups." Those merchants said, "The practice of the Shākya's son's practitioners is deceitful. The practice of the Brahmins is deceitful, and now they even harm the livelihood of others." They slander, quarrel, and revile. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said, "A monk should not harm the livelihood of others. If he harms, he will commit a serious offense." In summary: Footless and two-footed, Four-footed and many-footed, All categories are included.

So it is. If asked, how do the king's physicians do it? Like this, the king's physicians live by relying on lotuses. That's how the king's physicians do it. If asked, how do the Yavanas of Khalungpa do it? Like this, the Yavanas of Khalungpa grind animals, stink bugs, etc., into powder, dig the earth, and grind on slate. They make and drink various intoxicating beverages. That's how the Yavanas of Khalungpa do it. If a monk steals footless creatures, then the value of the footless creatures must be calculated, and if the items are complete, it constitutes a defeat (parajika), and if the items are incomplete, it constitutes a grave offense. "Two-legged" refers to humans and some birds. There are three ways to steal people: through location, code, and signs. If asked, how is it done through location? For example, when someone sees me in a garden, assembly place, or some sacred place, know that you did that thing. That's how it's done through location. If asked, how is it done through code? For example, when someone sees me in the morning, at noon, or in the evening, know that you did that thing. That's how it's done through code. If asked, how is it done through signs? For example, when someone sees me with freshly shaved hair and beard, or wearing reddish-yellow robes, or carrying a patched bowl with lead sheets, or carrying a hollow cane, or carrying a bowl filled with ghee, or carrying a bowl filled with oil, or carrying a bowl filled with honey, or carrying a bowl filled with molasses, know that you did that thing. That's how it's done through signs. If a monk steals a person, then the value of the person must be calculated, and if the items are complete, it constitutes a defeat (parajika), and if the items are incomplete, it constitutes a grave offense. There are two ways to steal birds: by grabbing and by landing directly. If asked, how is it done by grabbing? For example, if a monk grabs a bird to steal it, then the value of the bird must be calculated, and if the items are complete, it constitutes a defeat (parajika), and if the items are incomplete, it constitutes a grave offense.
