If a Bhikshu, If he does not know in the beginning, nor in the middle, nor in the end, then whatever effort he makes should be abandoned. A Bhikshu strives to make a Bhikshu lie down, and if the Bhikshu knows in the beginning, but does not know in the middle, nor in the end, then whatever effort he makes should be abandoned. Just as a Bhikshu treats a Bhikshu, so does a Bhikshu treat a Bhikshuni, a Shramanerika, a Shramana, and a Shramanerika. A Bhikshuni treats a Bhikshu and a Shramana, a Shramanerika treats a Bhikshu and a Shramana, a Shramanerika treats a Bhikshu and a Shramana, and a Shramana treats a Bhikshu, a Bhikshuni, a Shramanerika, a Shramana, and a Shramanerika in the same way.

If he does so, then whatever effort is made should be abandoned. If a monk makes a monk drunk with grain alcohol, and makes an effort, and if the monk knows this at first, also knows in the middle, also knows in the end, and after knowing, also possesses it, then both should be abandoned. Just as a monk is to a monk, so a monk is to a nun, a female novice, a novice, a female novice; a nun is to a monk, a novice; a female novice is to a monk, a novice; a female novice is to a monk, a novice; a novice is to a monk, a nun, a female novice, a novice, a female novice. It is the same. Just as with grain alcohol, so too with prepared alcohol, mixed alcohol, root drinks, trunk drinks, leaf drinks, flower drinks, or fruit drinks, or with secret mantras and knowledge mantras, or with medicine that disturbs the mind, or causes sleep, it is the same. If a monk grabs a monk's penis with his hand, and makes an effort, and if the monk possesses it when inserting, then both should be abandoned. If he does not possess it when inserting, but possesses it when putting it in, then both should be abandoned. If he does not possess it when inserting, nor when putting it in, but possesses it when taking it out, then both should be abandoned. If he does not possess it when inserting, nor when putting it in, nor when taking it out, then whatever effort is made should be abandoned. It is the same. Vinaya-vibhaṅga, Volume Two. Verse: A support and a hanging one, a beautiful, joyful, complete old woman, a monk who is overturned by sleep, there is no fault in pressing down with a heavy weight. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was in Shravasti, in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Garden.

He dwelt at Anathapindika's Park. In Shravasti, there was a householder who took a wife from the same clan, and then he would play with her, be happy, and enjoy pleasure. At another time, while he was playing, being happy, and enjoying pleasure, his wife became pregnant. After eight or nine months, she gave birth to a boy whose back was like this: for example, as soft as a rabbit or a cat, and very soft. His relatives gathered together and held a great celebration for the twenty-first day after his birth. They were naming the boy, saying, "What shall we name the boy?" They thought to themselves, "Because this boy's back is like this: for example, as soft as a rabbit or a cat, and very soft, therefore this boy's name should be 'Soft-back'." Thus, his name was named 'Soft-back'. He was nourished and raised with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, the essence of ghee, and other various kinds of principal foods, and he grew quickly like a lotus growing in a pond. When he became an adult, he went forth into the well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya. Having gone forth in that way, in the morning he put on his robes, took his cloak and bowl, and in the village or town near where he dwelt, without guarding his body, without restraining his senses, without maintaining mindfulness, he went for alms. Having gone for alms in that village or town, having done the business of eating, and having returned from the afternoon alms round, he put down his bowl and cloak, washed his two feet, and entered his dwelling in order to properly settle down. When his mind was completely overcome by lustful desire for sensual pleasures, he would make a part of his body usable and put it in his mouth and strive to do so. Then, at another time, many wandering monks went to the place where that monk was. Those monks saw that monk doing that. Having seen it, they were displeased and obviously.
