Then, at that sage's place, also at the foot of a mountain, there was a garden, where there were roots, flowers, fruits, abundant water, and various kinds of trees that were lush and beautiful, and various birds were singing. He gradually heard it from one to another, passed it on to his presence, became related by marriage, spoke, and stayed. There, the king's people were also searching for him, and those people began to capture him, so he jumped off the cliff of the mountain. As he jumped, a person grabbed his hair knot, but the hair knot came off and he fell down. Those people thought, this person is dead, so they took the hair knot and went to the king. Those people said: O god, we have killed the fisherman's son, the poet, and this is his hair knot. The king was very happy and distributed wealth to them. Then, the god who lived in the sage's garden said to the sage: Aren't you worried that your grandson is suffering such unbearable pain, fear, and dread? He said: If I had not thought of it, I would die today. That sage was a holder of vidyā-mantras and secret mantras, and he knew the vidyā-mantra that could turn a man into a woman and a woman back into a man, so he taught him that vidyā-mantra and said: Now go and live without fear or apprehension. He used the vidyā-mantra to manifest female characteristics that could not create obstacles, and then went to Vārāṇasī. He lived in the king's garden, and the guardian of the garden saw him and was very surprised. He quickly went and said to the king Sun Halo (ཉི་མའི་མུ་ཁྱུད།): O god, there is a mature woman with a perfect figure in the garden. Let him bring her here. He married her with great wealth and brought her to the king's palace. The king Sun Halo became very fond of her, and he found an opportunity, killed the king in a secluded place, and then recited the vidyā-mantra again and became a man. Then he put on the crown himself, told the minister Livestock Dwelling (ཕྱུགས་འདུག) about this, and sat on the throne to rule the country. Divine instruction.

Having said that, he cut off the head. He who has not had his head cut off will not die. He will rise again and continue to work. Just as that poet found an opportunity and killed someone like a son of hard resin. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the king of that time, named "Surrounding the Sun," the son of hard resin, was Devadatta himself. At that time, the poet of that time was myself. Even then, he harbored resentment towards me, and even now he still harbors resentment. Furthermore, listen to how he harbored resentment towards me. Monks, in the past, in a certain mountain valley, there lived two jewelers, and the two of them divided the main road and the village. At that time, there was a merchant who had exhausted all his wealth, and he took a container of jewels and went to that mountain valley. Then, tired from the road, he rested and went to the residence of one of the jewelers and said: Please assess the value of this container of jewels. He assessed its value as being very low. The man said: Even though I have lost my wealth, I have not lost my wisdom. If I knew its value, why would I say such a thing? He left from that man and went to the other jeweler and said: Please assess the value of this container of jewels. That man assessed its value as being very high, and he said: I do not have so much wealth of that value at the moment. The man said: Give me what you have and take it. He took it. When the other jeweler heard this, he felt displeasure. He went to that man and said: I first took him home, and I also assessed his value, why did you take it? The two of them developed hatred towards each other. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the jeweler of that time, the one who assessed the value of the jewel container as being low, was Devadatta himself. At that time, the other jeweler of that time, the one who assessed the value as being high, was myself. At that time, we were not in harmony with each other, and even now we are still not in harmony with each other. Furthermore, listen to how we were not in harmony.
