Then, this boy named Gro bzhin skyes was entrusted to eight wet nurses. There were two wet nurses who nurtured him on their laps, two wet nurses who fed him milk, two wet nurses who wiped away dirt, and two wet nurses who served as playmates. These eight wet nurses nourished him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, the essence of butter, and other essential nutrients. They raised him quickly, like a lotus growing in a pond. When he grew up, he began to study writing, numbers, arithmetic, manual calculation, deduction, multiplication, and division. He also became proficient in the eight types of divination: land divination, clothing divination, treasure divination, tree divination, elephant divination, horse divination, youth divination, and maiden divination. He was skilled in discernment and reading, and he was very clever. He possessed great merit. Many people of the same clan heard this and gave him their sons and daughters. His father built three residences: a winter residence, a spring residence, and a summer residence, and arranged for three wives: the eldest wife, the middle wife, and the youngest wife. After that, he went to the top of the palace, and when there were no men, he would play, entertain himself, and enjoy pleasure there. Every day, he prepared five hundred feasts and cooked and prepared them. Devadatta cursed Prince Ajatasatru, saying: All young kings, when their hair turns white, will hand over the power of the throne to the eldest prince and then renounce the world. But your father, even if his hair turns three colors, is still attached to desires and does not want to tend towards tranquility. Ajatasatru said: Only the two of us know this, so what's the use? Devadatta said: Harm him! Those who pursue desires will do anything. When King Bimbisara was preparing to offer ghee to the Blessed One and enjoy ghee-mixed rice, Ajatasatru saw him going to the Garden of Light and threw a single-pointed vajra at him. The king was skilled in sound, so he turned his body to the left.

Then, his toe was injured and broken, and then he returned from there. (But) the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, do not have any ignorance, non-seeing, non-understanding, or incomplete knowledge of such things. Then, the Bhagavat told the venerable Maha Maudgalyayana: "Son of Maudgalyayana, Ajatasatru is controlled by the evil friend Devadatta, who has disrupted the Tathagata's alms gathering. Go to the shipmaster's son in Champa, and bring back the alms food." The venerable one replied, "As you say," and after hearing from the Bhagavat, the venerable Maha Maudgalyayana, how does one abide equally in the mind? He became invisible from Rajagriha and arrived in Champa, thus abiding in samadhi. The twenty kotis of Nakshatraja, because of their faith in the sun, would get up early every morning and prostrate to the sun. At that time, the venerable Maha Maudgalyayana descended by piercing through the sun's mandala with his miraculous power. The venerable Nakshatraja saw him. Seeing him, he thought: "I have directly seen the image of the sun," and a great wonder arose in his heart. After seeing him, he again spoke in verse: "Who is it that has pierced through the sun and quickly appeared on the earth, coming to my place? Is this the sun, or the giver of wealth, the moon, or Indra? Or has the lord of the gods come down?" The venerable Maha Maudgalyayana, knowing his thoughts with his mind, also spoke in verse: "I am not the sun blazing with a thousand rays, nor am I the lord of the stars. I am not Vaishravana, nor am I the one with virtues, nor the ascetic Ishvara. Know that I am the son of the Buddha, whose mind is blazing with glory. I have come to your presence because the Bhagavat needs alms." Nakshatraja said: "Do you know Shakyamuni?" He spoke in verse: "Just as one would bring mustard seeds to measure Mount Sumeru, the golden mountain, just as one would measure the sun with fireflies, just as one would measure the ocean full of jewels with a cow's hoofprint."

Like the legends of old. Likewise, regard the supreme being, the Lama Buddha, as an example, and may you, the sons of the Buddha, understand. Grains-born said: By this inference, I have clearly understood how greatly you have practiced asceticism. What is the need, please command. Please offer alms to the Blessed One. Who is the Blessed One? The son of the householder, the renunciate Gautama Shakyamuni, of the Shakya clan, having shaved his hair and beard, and donned ochre robes, solely through pure faith, went forth from home to homelessness. He has manifested as a Buddha who has attained the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. That son of the householder is called the Buddha. Having heard the name "Buddha," which he had never heard before, all the pores of his hair stirred, and with manifest faith, he offered the five hundred pots of cooked food to the venerable great son of Maudgalyayana. Then, the venerable great son of Maudgalyayana, having received the alms from him, as he remained in meditative equipoise, disappeared from Champa and went to the Kalanda Grove in the Radiant Garden of Rajagriha. Having entered into such a samadhi, he offered alms to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One began to eat. At the same time, the Magadha king, Bimbisara, the son of Shuddhodana, carrying the last remaining pot of food, went before the Blessed One. When he saw that the entire Radiant Garden was filled with various delicious food aromas, he thought: Could it be that the lord of the gods, Indra, or other gods have offered alms to the Blessed One? Otherwise, why would this Radiant Garden be filled with various delicious food aromas? Then, he said to the Blessed One: Venerable one, is it the lord of the gods, Indra, or other gods who have offered alms to the Blessed One? Why is this Radiant Garden filled with various delicious food aromas? The Blessed One replied: Great king, it was neither the lord of the gods, Indra, nor was it offered by other gods. But it is only your own land...
