It is done. This is the request. The procedure is as follows: Venerable Sangha, please listen. This Devadatta, intending to divide the harmonious Sangha, is stubborn and has initiated a dispute that will lead to division, holding on to it firmly. Therefore, many monks admonish him. Even when admonished, he stubbornly clings to his own views, insisting that only he is right and others are wrong, and makes false accusations accordingly. Therefore, the Sangha says to Devadatta: Devadatta, do not be stubborn in dividing the harmonious Sangha, and do not hold on to disputes that will lead to division. Devadatta, be in harmony with the Sangha. Do not divide the harmony of the Sangha, do not quarrel everywhere, be of one mind, speak in one voice, and be like water and milk mixed together. If you can illuminate the Buddha's teachings, you will abide in happiness. Devadatta, do not be stubborn in dividing the harmonious Sangha, and do not hold on to disputes that will lead to division. Devadatta, be in harmony with the Sangha. Do not divide the harmony of the Sangha, do not quarrel everywhere, be of one mind, speak in one voice, and be like water and milk mixed together. If you can illuminate the Buddha's teachings, you will abide in happiness. Thus, the Sangha admonishes Devadatta with a request and four karmas. Venerable ones, those who approve of admonishing Devadatta with a request and four karmas, let them remain silent. Those who do not approve, let them speak. This is the first statement of the karma. Likewise, the second and third statements of the karma should be made. When the Sangha admonishes Devadatta with a request and four karmas, even when admonished, he stubbornly clings to his own views, insisting that only he is right and others are wrong, and makes false accusations accordingly. His companions, the four monks who follow those who speak discordantly, namely Kokalika, Khandadravya, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta, also say this to the monks:

So. Venerable ones, whether you do good or evil, do not say anything to this monk. What is the reason for that? This monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya (discipline). This monk has correctly taken up the Dharma and the Vinaya, completely mastered them, and then subsequently establishes names. This monk speaks knowingly, not unknowingly. Whatever this monk approves of and tolerates, we also approve of and tolerate. At that time, the monks requested the Blessed One: Venerable One, when we rebuke Devadatta with the four karmas, when he is rebuked, he still insists on that root, extremely attached, and then subsequently establishes names, saying, "This is true, and the others are false." His friends, the four monks who follow after speaking discordant words, namely Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta, they also said to the monks: Venerable ones, whether you do good or evil, do not say anything to this monk. What is the reason for that? This monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya (discipline). This monk has correctly taken up the Dharma and the Vinaya, completely mastered them, and then subsequently establishes names. This monk speaks knowingly, not unknowingly. Whatever this monk tolerates and approves of, we also approve of and tolerate. The Blessed One said: Monks, you should rebuke Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta, and the rebuke should be done in this way: Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta, you knowingly act rudely in order to divide the Sangha, and you have correctly taken up and completely mastered the disputes that lead to division, do not be their friends, do not follow after discordant words. Say to the monks in this way: Venerable ones, whether you do good or evil, do not say anything to this monk. What is the reason for that? Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya (discipline).

That. This monk, having properly taken up the Dharma and Vinaya, teaches and names accordingly. This monk speaks knowingly, not unknowingly. Do not say, "Whatever this monk likes and tolerates, we also like and tolerate." Venerable ones, do not desire to divide the Sangha; venerable ones, you should desire to speak of the Sangha being in harmony. Venerable ones, make the Sangha harmonious. The harmonious Sangha does not divide, everywhere rejoicing and not arguing, supreme and one. Recitation is unified, like water and milk mixed together. If you clarify the Teacher's teachings, you will abide in ease. Venerable ones, you should exhort them to abandon such things as following the division of the Sangha and speaking discordantly. Those monks exhorted Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta. Even when exhorted, they firmly clung to that very basis, manifestly attached, and named it, saying, "This is true, and the other is false." At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One: "Venerable One, we have exhorted Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta. Even when exhorted, they firmly clung to that very basis, manifestly attached, and named it, saying, 'This is true, and the other is false.'" The Blessed One said: "Monks, you should exhort Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, Samudradatta, and anyone else similar to them with entreaties and the four karmas. The exhortation should be done as follows: After preparing the seats, strike the gandi and exhort the monks properly with words of inquiry, so that the entire Sangha gathers and is in harmony. After one monk makes the entreaty, the karma should be performed. Venerable ones of the Sangha, please listen. These Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katimorakatishya, and Samudradatta, as they are, whichever monk is coarse for the sake of dividing the harmony of the Sangha,
