A pearl necklace was left in the garden. The king instructed his ministers: "Wise men, search for the pearl necklace that was left in the garden!" They began to search thoroughly in the garden. After a while, they saw the necklace hanging on a tree branch and thought: "Let's find out who hung this here." So they began to wander around the garden. After a while, they saw a beggar and said to him: "Hey, sir, who hung this pearl necklace on the branch?" He told them what had happened. The ministers presented the pearl necklace to the king and told him what had happened. The king said: "Wise men, bring that beggar here." They brought the beggar, and the king asked: "Hey, sir, why did you hang the pearl necklace on the tree branch and not take it for yourself?" He replied: "Your Majesty, this is not my share; it is meant for you alone." The king was very pleased and said: "Hey, sir, you are a noble person. Ask for whatever you want, and I will grant it." He replied: "If Your Majesty is pleased with me, then do not punish all the beggars, give each of them a set of clothes, and appoint me as their leader." The king instructed his ministers: "Wise men, give food to all the beggars, give each of them a set of clothes, and then let this man be their leader." They announced in Varanasi (ancient Indian city, now Varanasi): "By order of His Majesty, all the beggars in Varanasi should gather in such-and-such garden. I will give food to the beggars and give each of them a set of clothes." When they had all gathered, the ministers satisfied them with food and gave each of them a set of clothes, and then announced: "By order of His Majesty, from today onwards, this man is appointed as your king. You must do as he says." Those beggars were satisfied with food and drink, and were delighted to receive a set of clothes, and said: "We will obey Your Majesty's command." Thus, that beggar became their leader. Those beggars...

Being naturally oppressed by hunger and thirst, they snatch food and drink from the market. The king respected them, and even more began to plunder. The group living on market dust gathered and petitioned the king. The king said: You should be careful to guard and not hit them. Soon, a man carrying oil cans passed from the center of your market, and the leader of the hungry ones snatched it from him, took it and went to a secluded place. The hungry ones followed behind, and they looked for an opportunity, and when he crossed the Varika River and sat under a tree. When the Buddhas do not appear, inferior Pratyekabuddhas appear in the world, they have compassion for the wicked, they like the dwelling of the borderlands, and they are the only objects of offering in the world. Soon, a Pratyekabuddha happened to come to that place, and he saw that the man was beautiful in body, peaceful in mind, and peaceful in conduct, so he thought: Without a doubt, I have not done anything to such a sacred object of offering, even if I do not obtain it, I am born as a hungry one. If this great being accepts the oil can from me, I will offer it. Then, the mind of that Pratyekabuddha knew his thoughts, and in order to receive the other, he extended his alms bowl to him. The man respectfully offered him the oil can. Those great beings do not teach the Dharma with words but with their bodies, so he rose into the sky above and began to perform the miracles of burning, appearing, raining, and lightning. Ordinary people are quick to believe in miracles, so like cutting off the roots of a tree, he knelt at the feet of the Pratyekabuddha and began to pray: Whatever is the root of virtue that I have done to such a sacred object of offering, may I become the king of the people, and may I please the teacher who is more excellent than this, and not displease him. Then, the hungry ones came and said: Please give us the oil can too. He said: I have...

It was offered to that great hermit. They said, "After offering, what kind of aspiration did you make?" He said, "May I become the king of the chief people." They said, "May we alone become your chief people, and may you become the king of those people." He said, "Very well, may it be so." Why don't you prostrate at the feet of the hermit and make aspirations? They prostrated at the feet of that Pratyekabuddha and made aspirations: "May we become your chief people, and may you become the king of those people." Monks, what do you think? Who was the leader of the Mutoba at that time? It was this Shakya king, Bhadra. Those Mutobas were these five hundred Shakyas. When these people and Bhadra became Mutobas, they made aspirations to the Pratyekabuddha, and due to the maturation of that karma, he became the king of these five hundred Shakyas. Monks, therefore, the maturation of black deeds is black, and from "is" to "Monks, you should train in that way," it is the same as before. The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in the place of the sounding hermit Kunrika. At that time, there were many alms bowls, and the Bhagavan left the alms bowls uncovered. Then, a monkey came down from the Sala tree and went to where the alms bowls were. The monks said, "It will come to break the alms bowls," and they stopped it. Then, the Bhagavan said to the monks, "Monks, this monkey will not break the alms bowls, do not stop it." Then, that monkey went to where the Bhagavan's alms bowl was, and after going there, it took the Bhagavan's alms bowl, climbed up that Sala tree, filled it with pure honey from bees, and then slowly came down from the Sala tree and offered it to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan did not accept it because it contained living beings. Then, that monkey went to one side, removed the living beings, and offered it to the Bhagavan.
