and. When he saw the boy, he wondered whose son this was. As he thought this, he saw that it was his own son, so he took the boy to his dwelling and nurtured him with affection. When the boy grew up, antlers grew on his head. Because he had antlers like a deer, he was called Sage Antlers, Sage Antlers. Later, that sage became ill, and although he was attended to with medicines suitable for that sage, his illness did not subside. When he felt that he was approaching death and would soon die, he said to the boy: "Son, sages living in various directions in this hermitage will come from time to time. Because you love me, you should make them very happy by speaking the Dharma that is universally applicable. Invite them to a seat and offer them roots and fruits as much as you can." Then he said: "The end of accumulation is exhaustion, the end of height is falling, the end of meeting is separation, and the end of living is death." Because it was so, he became in accordance with the law of time. He cremated him according to the custom of the sages. Overwhelmed by the grief of being separated from his father, he became weary and directly realized the five superknowledges. Later, one time, when he went to fetch water with a water pot, the gods began to rain. He filled the water pot with water and was carrying it back when he slipped and fell. Sages are quick to anger, so he took a little water and sprinkled it out, cursing: "Evil-doer, you have broken the water pot filled with water. Therefore, from this day on for twelve years, may you not rain." Thus, the gods did not rain. A great famine occurred in Varanasi (Vārāṇasī), and the people scattered everywhere. The king summoned the diviners and said: "Wise ones, by whose power do the gods not rain?" They said: "It is because the sage is angry. If that sage can be brought back to asceticism, the gods will rain as before, otherwise it will not be so." The king understood in his heart and remained silent, and then,

The women, ministers, and youths said: "God, why are you unhappy?" The god said: "Because the sage is angry, the heavens do not send rain, and the celestial artisans also say that if that sage were to leave his asceticism, then the heavens would send rain. Otherwise, it will not rain. I do not know who can make that sage leave his asceticism." The daughter of that king, named Shildenma, said: "God, if that is the case, please be at ease, and I will somehow make that sage leave his asceticism." The god said: "What method will you use?" She said: "Please allow me and the other women to recite mantras as Brahmins. Please allow us to build a dockyard residence with flowers, fruits, and abundant water." The god allowed her and the other women to learn secret mantras from the Brahmins and also allowed the construction of the dockyard residence. Then, she had intoxicating substances and fruits filled with wine prepared, as well as various other beautiful fruits, and disguised herself as a sage, wearing grass and bark, and together with the women, reciting secret mantras to the Brahmins, they arrived at the sage's residence. The sage's disciples said: "Teacher, many sages have come to your residence." The sages have come, please come inside. When they entered the house, the sage saw them and said in verse: Walking and swaying without examination, Faces also devoid of beards, These people's chests are exposed and visible, Alas, a sage's attire never seen before. The sage, with a mind filled with doubt, offered roots and fruits. After they ate those things, they said to the sage: "Your fruits are rough, bitter, and astringent. In our water residence, the meaningful fruits are like nectar. Thus, you are invited to our residence." The sage agreed and entered the dockyard garden with them, and decided to enjoy those intoxicating substances filled with wine and the nalikera...

He also gave fruits and other things. He lost all his magical powers by engaging in impure conduct with her due to intoxication with alcohol and the use of intoxicating substances. The god who loved rain gathered all the clouds, but that hermit stopped them. Shildana said: Do you still not know who I am? He bound her with the rope of desire and offered her to the king, saying that this is the god hermit. After that, the god began to rain, and the year became good. The king gave Shildana and her entourage to that hermit as wives. When he abandoned Shildana and engaged in enjoying himself with other women, Shildana, with a heart entangled in jealousy, began to treat him disrespectfully. After that, they argued back and forth, and she hit him on the head with a clod of dirt mixed with saliva. He thought: I cannot even bear the thunder of the clouds, and now that I am bound by the rope of desire, am I to be despised even by a woman? So he dwelt in diligence and manifested his powers again. Monks, what do you think? That hermit at that time was myself. Shildana was this Fame-Holder, and even then she was controlled by desire for my voice. Now she is also engaged in being controlled by lust. When the Blessed One had eaten his meal in the palace and came outside, Fame-Holder thought that she was separated from the love of her family, and despairing, she climbed onto the roof and jumped. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are of a nature that does not forget, so the Blessed One took her up by his miraculous power. The monks were in doubt, and asked the Blessed Buddha, who cuts off all doubts: Venerable One, look, Fame-Holder jumped from the roof for the sake of the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Monks, not only in this present time, but listen to how she gave up her life for me in the past as well. Monks, in the past there was a city called Varanasi, and there was a king named Brahmadata.
