In the past, I spoke harshly to the Buddha Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་, Sanskrit: Kāśyapa), and as a result of that karma, I now practice austerities for six years. If I were to denigrate enlightenment, then I would again exhaust myself for countless eons for the sake of enlightenment. Monks, therefore, you should know that the result of actions that are purely dark is purely dark... and you should strive for actions that are purely white. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. And so on, as previously stated. On the day the Bodhisattva was born, the mother holding sound (Grāhadharā) became pregnant. When the Bodhisattva practiced austerities, the consort also began to practice austerities, causing the mother holding sound to miscarry. They held a birth celebration and discussed what name to give the child. The relatives said: This child was born when the moon was eclipsed by Rāhu, so let us name the child Rāhula (སྒྲ་ཅན་ཟིན་). When this young man was born, the Shakyas repeatedly discussed the matter, so he made a vow of truth. Rāhula grew up, riding on a stone the height of the Bodhisattva, and playing in the pleasure pool.

The Fame Holder handed this over to the Sound Holder child, saying: Child, offer it to your father. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, know nothing of this, see nothing, perceive nothing, know nothing, the Bhagavan thought: The Fame Holder will hear bad fame, it should be avoided. So the Bhagavan manifested five hundred Buddhas. The Sound Holder child observed all the Buddhas and offered it to the Bhagavan sitting in the position of an elder. The Bhagavan accepted it and gave it back to him, and the Sound Holder child ate it. The Bhagavan made a dedication of merit and left. The Sound Holder child followed the Bhagavan, wanting to return, but time did not allow it, he could not return. The Bhagavan thought: This being is bound by karma, he cannot dwell in the home.
