peaceful, exhausted, free from desire, ceased, near to peace, extinguished. In order to realize it, one should cultivate the eightfold noble path. What is the noble truth of the path that leads to the cessation of suffering? It is the eightfold noble path, namely, right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. These should also be cultivated. When this Dharma discourse was being delivered, the venerable Kaundinya, without clinging, his mind was completely liberated from the defilements. For the remaining five monks, the eye of the Dharma, without dust and free from impurity, arose regarding the dharmas. At that time, there was one Arhat in the world, and the second was the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One again spoke to the remaining five monks: Monks, form is not self. Monks, if form were self, form would not be subject to harm and suffering, and one could also obtain the thought, "May my form become like this, may it not become like that." Monks, because form is not self, therefore form is subject to harm and suffering, and one cannot obtain the thought, "May my form become like this, may it not become like that." Monks, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness, consciousness is not self. Monks, if consciousness were self, consciousness would not be subject to harm and suffering, and one could also obtain the thought, "May my consciousness become like this, may it not become like that." Monks, because consciousness is not self, therefore consciousness is subject to harm and suffering, and one cannot obtain the thought, "May my consciousness become like this, may it not become like that." Monks, what do you think? Is form permanent or impermanent? Venerable ones, it is impermanent. Whatever is impermanent,

Is it suffering? It is not suffering. Venerable sir, it is suffering. Whatever is impermanent, suffering, and subject to change, does the noble disciple who has heard much regard it as 'This is me,' 'This is who I am,' 'This is my self'? Venerable sir, he does not regard it so. Monks, what do you think? Is feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness permanent or impermanent? Venerable sir, it is impermanent. Whatever is impermanent, is it suffering or not suffering? Venerable sir, it is suffering. Whatever is impermanent, suffering, and subject to change, does the noble disciple who has heard much regard it as 'This is me,' 'This is who I am,' 'This is my self'? Venerable sir, he does not regard it so. Monks, therefore, whatever form there is, whether past, future, or present, internal or external, gross or subtle, inferior or superior, far or near, all of it is not me, I am not it, it is not my self, it should be viewed with accurate wisdom as it is. Monks, therefore, whatever feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness there is, whether past, future, or present, internal or external, gross or subtle, inferior or superior, far or near, all of it is not me, I am not it, it is not my self, it should be viewed with accurate wisdom as it is. Monks, in this way, the noble disciple who has heard much sees these five aggregates of clinging as not me, not mine. When he sees it in this way, he takes nothing in the world. When there is no taking, there is no torment. When there is no torment, he himself is completely liberated from suffering, my birth is exhausted, the pure conduct has been established, what had to be done has been done, there is nothing further for this existence, so it will be said. When this discourse on the Dharma was spoken, the minds of the remaining five monks were liberated from the defilements without taking anything. At that time, there were five Arhats.

The sixth is the Bhagavan. Then, the Bhagavan was dwelling on the bank of the Harmful River in Varanasi. At that time, in Varanasi, there lived a son of a lineage chief named Fame. He would play every day with music made by women, rejoice, enjoy pleasure, and because of that, his body would be weary, his body would be tired, his body would be weakened, and he would quickly fall asleep. Those women also would be weary, tired, and weakened, and would quickly fall asleep. When the son of the lineage chief, Fame, awoke at night, he saw that all those women were naked, bare, their hair disheveled, stretching out their hands, and babbling incoherently. Having seen that, he developed the perception of a charnel ground towards his own wives. Then, the son of the lineage chief, Fame, descended from his great bed, put on a pair of precious shoes worth a hundred thousand, went to the door of the bedroom, and cried out in a wretched voice, "Friend, I am tormented! Friend, I am ruined!" And the non-humans opened the door, but made no sound. Then, the son of the lineage chief, Fame, went to the door of the house, and cried out in a wretched voice, "Friend, I am tormented! Friend, I am ruined!" And the non-humans opened the door, but made no sound. Then, the son of the lineage chief, Fame, went to the gate of the city, and cried out in a wretched voice, "Friend, I am tormented! Friend, I am ruined!" And the non-humans opened the door, but made no sound. Then, the son of the lineage chief, Fame, went to where the Harmful River was. At that time, the Bhagavan was walking back and forth on the bank of the Harmful River, outside the monastery, without a roof. The son of the lineage chief, Fame, walked back and forth, coming and going. The son of the lineage chief, Fame, saw the Bhagavan walking on the bank of the Harmful River from afar. Having seen him, he cried out in a wretched voice, "Ascetic, I am tormented! Ascetic, I am ruined!" Then, the Bhagavan to the lineage
