If it were not so, because the Teacher instructed and well-spoke the Vinaya, I have become ordained, and I myself was the first to be ordained. The king embraced all his limbs and had him sit on the prepared seat. Likewise, he filtered water, examined roots and fruits, purified them, and had him eat. The venerable Charaka was exceedingly peaceful and dwelt in discipline, enjoying it according to the rites as taught. The king, having examined him, was amazed and said: Charaka, is the young Siddhartha also like this, so close to peace? Charaka said: O god, my discipline and peace are but a little. For example, like Mount Meru and a mustard seed. Like the ocean and a non-drinker. Like the sun and a firefly. Like the sky and the hole of a lotus root. King Śuddhodana said: Charaka, is the young Siddhartha also like this, and is his appearance like this? O god, like this, and his appearance is like this. King Śuddhodana fainted and fell to the ground. After sprinkling water, he regained his breath and said: Charaka, has the young Siddhartha come? Charaka said: He has come. When did he come? When he was seven years old? King Śuddhodana admonished the ministers: O wise ones, the young Siddhartha is coming, quickly sweep the king's chamber and palace! Charaka said: O god, the Blessed One will not dwell in the palace. The king said: Where will he dwell? Charaka said: In a monastery or a vihara. King Śuddhodana said: Charaka, what is a vihara like? The venerable Charaka drew a picture of the Prince Jeta's Grove and showed it to him. Then the king said to the ministers: O wise ones, in the Nyagrodha Grove, build sixteen large viharas and sixty-six small houses according to the likeness of the Prince Jeta's Grove. Then the Blessed One spoke thus to the venerable great Maudgalyāyana: Maudgalyāyana, go, lead the monks, the Blessed One will go to Kapilavastu, and when father and son meet, which of you

Looking delightful, arrange your Dharma robes. Monks, as the venerable one said, the venerable great Maudgalyāyana, having heard from the Blessed One, spoke to the monks: Venerable ones, the Blessed One has departed for Kapilavastu, whoever among you is pleased to see the father and son of the Shakya clan, arrange your Dharma robes. Thereafter, the Blessed One, the tamer with a tamed retinue, the pacified with a pacified retinue, the liberated with a liberated retinue, the crossed-over with a crossed-over retinue, the thoroughly tamed with a thoroughly tamed retinue, the Arhat with an Arhat retinue, the detached from desire with a detached from desire retinue, the beautiful with a beautiful retinue. Like a chief bull surrounded by a herd of cattle, like a great elephant surrounded by a herd of young elephants, like a lion surrounded by a herd of tusked lions, like a king of swans surrounded by a flock of swans, like the sky surrounded by a flock of soaring birds, like a Brahmin surrounded by a group of students, like a skilled physician surrounded by a group of patients, like a hero surrounded by an army, like a guide surrounded by a group of guests, like a captain surrounded by a group of merchants, like a petty king surrounded by a group of ministers, like a wheel-turning king surrounded by a thousand sons, like the moon surrounded by a host of stars, like the sun surrounded by a thousand rays of light, like Dhritarashtra surrounded by a host of gandharvas, like Virudhaka surrounded by a host of kumbhandas, like Virupaksha surrounded by a host of nagas, like Vaishravana surrounded by a host of yakshas, like Shakra surrounded by a host of asuras, like Indra surrounded by a host of the thirty-three gods, like Brahma surrounded by a host of Brahma's retinue, like the ocean unmoving, like clouds accompanied by rain, like a noble elephant free from pride, his senses thoroughly subdued, his conduct unperturbed, his body adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, beautified by the eighty minor marks, his body adorned with a fathom of light, his light surpassing the light of a thousand suns, like a mountain of jewels.

Beautiful as a lotus. Possessing the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, and the three unmixed mindfulnesses. The Blessed One, endowed with great compassion, went to the Rohi River together with the great community of monks. King Suddhodana heard the news that "the youth Sarvarthasiddha has arrived at the Rohi River." Upon hearing this, King Suddhodana had the ground of Kapilavastu cleared of stones, tiles, and gravel, and sprinkled with sandalwood water. He arranged extremely fragrant incense burners and hung many silk ribbons. The road from the Rohi River to the Nyagrodha Grove was beautifully decorated. On the wide and spacious ground, various splendid cushions were arranged. At the Rohi River, some monks washed their hands, some discarded toothpicks, and some bathed. The Shakyas residing in Kapilavastu heard the news that "the youth Sarvarthasiddha has arrived." Upon hearing this, some were motivated by past virtuous roots, and some were amazed, and all came out from the Nyagrodha Grove, thinking: Will the father prostrate at the son's feet? Or will the son prostrate at the father's feet? Let's see! Vinaya-vastu, Volume 91. Then, the Blessed One thought: If I were to go to Kapilavastu on foot, those arrogant Shakyas would think: Alas! The youth Sarvarthasiddha went to the forest of penance and became a beggar. Now he is served by hundreds of thousands of gods and descends from the sky, having attained the nectar after enduring countless austerities, but now he comes on foot, how pitiful! Then, the Blessed One, in the manner of meditative absorption, manifested in the eastern sky and performed the four modes of conduct: walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. He also entered the fire samadhi. When he entered the fire samadhi, the body of the Buddha, the Blessed One, emitted various colors of light, such as blue, yellow, and red.
