看到了。心想什么时候会聚会呢，说是七天后。心想后说道：施主，就这样做，但是要在第七天那天做。之后施主给孤独布施感到高兴和满意，就去往外道所在的地方，去到后对外道们这样说道：贤者们，圣者舍利子说要那样做，但是要在第七天那天做。那些人想，这其中有两个原因，要么是他想逃跑，要么是他想找帮手。如果不是那样，为什么要定在那个时间呢？我们也去找帮手吧，那些人就开始寻找帮手，那些人寻找帮手时，看到了遍行者红眼，那些人对他说：你和我们是行持相同的梵行者，如果乔达摩沙门的上首弟子被我们叫来辩论而寻找帮手，你也做我们的朋友吧。时间是什么时候呢？从现在起第七天那天。他说：好的，就这样做，你们什么时候聚会，就什么时候邀请我。外道们感到担忧和焦虑，每天都在寻找帮手，并且数着日子。什么时候七天到了，施主给孤独布施就在没有遮盖的宽敞地方铺设了座位。也为具寿舍利子准备了狮子座。住在各种地方的外道们，以及住在舍卫城的人群，还有住在其附近的成百上千的众生，其中一些感到惊奇，一些是被往昔的善根所推动而聚集。之后，具寿舍利子在施主给孤独布施及其眷属的陪同下，来到辩论的中央，看着被调伏的众生，先是微笑，然后以寂静的行为举止登上狮子座坐下。所有眷属都心不散乱地注视着具寿舍利子。之后，具寿舍利子对外道们说道：

Those people thought, there are two reasons for this, either he wants to escape, or he is looking for help. If that's not the case, why set it at that time? Let's also look for help, so those people started looking for help, and as those people were looking for help, they saw the wanderer Red Eyes, and those people said to him: You and we are practitioners of the same Brahman conduct, if the chief disciple of the ascetic Gautama is summoned by us for debate and is looking for help, you also be our friend. When is the time? Seven days from now. He said: Okay, do it that way, whenever you gather, invite me. The heretics felt worried and anxious, and they were looking for help every day, and they were counting the days. When did the seven days arrive, the householder Anathapindika had seats laid out in a wide open space without cover. A lion throne was also prepared for the venerable Shariputra. Heretics living in various places, as well as the crowds living in Shravasti, and hundreds and thousands of beings living nearby, some were amazed, and some were gathered by the prompting of past virtuous roots. Then, the venerable Shariputra, accompanied by the householder Anathapindika and his retinue, came to the center of the debate, looked at the beings to be tamed, first smiled, and then ascended the lion throne with peaceful conduct and sat down. 那些地方的人要做什么呢？还是摧毁？他们说：我们来做。这时，具寿舍利子心想：如果我来做，连天神在内的世间都无法摧毁，更何况是红眼外道呢？想到这里，他对红眼外道说：你来做，我来摧毁。因为他是个幻术师，所以他幻化出一棵娑诃迦树，树上开满了鲜花。具寿舍利子降下狂风暴雨，将树连根拔起，互相摧毁，甚至连瑜伽士们的地方都不在了。然后，他幻化出一个莲花池。具寿舍利子幻化出一头健壮的大象，彻底踩踏，只留下名字的残余。他幻化出一条七头蛇。具寿舍利子幻化出一只大鹏鸟，将其抓走。他幻化出一个僵尸。具寿舍利子用咒语橛击打，那作恶的僵尸反而要杀自己，于是他扑向自己。然后，它恐惧、害怕、贫穷，毛发竖立，抓住具寿舍利子的双脚，说道：圣者舍利子，我皈依您，请您救救我。然后，具寿舍利子拔出咒语橛，僵尸就平静下来了。具寿舍利子为它说法。它生起信心，说道：圣者舍利子，如果能赐予我您所善说的律藏中的出家和受比丘戒，我愿在圣者舍利子面前行梵行。具寿舍利子为他剃度，授比丘戒，并给予教诲。他精进、努力、勤奋，断除一切烦恼，现证阿罗汉，成为阿罗汉。他对三界之欲毫无贪恋，视土块和黄金平等，拥有等同虚空和手掌心的心，视檀香和粪便平等，以智慧击破无明之卵壳，

The Venerable Shariputra sent down a strong wind and rain, uprooting the tree and destroying it, so that even the place of the yogis was gone. Then, he conjured up a lotus pond. The Venerable Shariputra conjured up a strong elephant, trampled it completely, leaving only the remnant of the name. He conjured up a seven-headed snake. The Venerable Shariputra conjured up a Garuda and grabbed it. He conjured up a corpse. The Venerable Shariputra struck with a mantra peg, and the evil corpse wanted to kill itself, so he pounced on himself. Then, it was afraid, frightened, poor, and its hair stood on end. He grabbed the feet of the Venerable Shariputra and said: Holy Shariputra, I take refuge in you, please save me. Then, the Venerable Shariputra pulled out the mantra peg, and the corpse calmed down. The Venerable Shariputra preached the Dharma to him. He developed faith and said: Holy Shariputra, if you can grant me ordination and Bhikshu vows in the Vinaya you have well spoken, I will practice Brahmacharya in front of the Holy Shariputra. The Venerable Shariputra ordained him, gave him the Bhikshu vows, and gave him instructions. He was diligent, striving, and diligent, and by abandoning all defilements, he realized Arhatship and became an Arhat. He had no attachment to the desires of the three realms, treated clods and gold equally, had a mind equal to the sky and the palm of his hand, treated sandalwood and dung equally, and broke the shell of the egg of ignorance with wisdom.

智慧和，神通和，各自正确地获得智慧，对有和欲的获得有贪执，背离恭敬的，具有根和近根的诸神所应供养，所应忆念，所应公开宣说的。之后，那些眷属们睁大惊奇的眼睛，对具寿舍利子生起了极大的信心，说道：圣者舍利子已经制伏了巨大的雄辩之群。这样想着，就看着具寿舍利子的脸。之后，具寿舍利子了解了那个眷属的意乐和随眠，界和自性，就宣说了容易领悟四圣谛那样的法。听了那个之后，成百上千的众生获得了巨大的利益，有些生起了声闻菩提之心，有些生起了独觉菩提之心，有些生起了无上正等觉菩提之心，有些受了皈依和学处，有些现证了入流果，有些现证了一来果，有些现证了不来果，有些出家后断除了所有烦恼，现证了阿罗汉果。那个眷属大部分都倾向于佛，趋向于法，安置于僧。外道们心想：我们不能用辩论战胜这个人，应该想个办法，然后找到机会阻止这个人，杀了他。这样想着，所有人都聚集到给孤独长者那里，说道：长者，你断绝了我们所有的生计，所以请您慈悲一下，在您的精舍里做雇工吧。我们在这里住了很久了，不能离开家乡啊。给孤独长者说道：稍等一下，我要问问圣者舍利子。说完就去往具寿舍利子所在的地方，到了之后对具寿舍利子这样说道：圣者，那些外道们

Wisdom and, supernormal knowledge and, individually and correctly attaining wisdom, being attached to the gains of existence and desire, turning their backs on reverence, the gods with roots and near roots should be offered to, should be remembered, and should be openly spoken of. Then, those retinues widened their eyes in amazement and developed great faith in the Venerable Shariputra, saying: The Venerable Shariputra has subdued the great flock of speakers. Thinking thus, they looked at the face of the Venerable Shariputra. Then, the Venerable Shariputra, knowing the intentions and latent tendencies of that retinue, its realms and nature, taught the Dharma in such a way that it would be easy to realize the four noble truths. Having heard that, hundreds and thousands of sentient beings gained great distinction, some generated the mind of a Hearer Bodhi, some generated the mind of a Solitary Buddha Bodhi, some generated the mind of Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Bodhi, some took refuge and the bases of training, some directly realized the fruit of Stream-entry, some the fruit of Once-returning, and some the fruit of Non-returning, some renounced and abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the Arhat fruit. Most of that retinue also inclined towards the Buddha, inclined towards the Dharma, and were placed in the Sangha. The non-Buddhists thought: We cannot defeat this one with arguments, we should devise a plan, and then, finding an opportunity, we will stop this one and kill him. Thinking thus, they all gathered and went to the householder Anathapindika and said: Householder, you have cut off all our livelihoods, so please be compassionate and work as laborers in your monastery.
