He possessed wealth. There was someone who could rival Vaishravana in wealth, and he took a wife from the same caste. He would play with her, rejoice, and enjoy happiness. As he played, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness, he gradually had three sons. After some time, the householder was afflicted by illness, and although he was attended to with medicines made from roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, his illness did not subside, and he eventually faced death. Then, his sons decorated the coffin with blue, yellow, red, and white cloths, carried it to the cemetery, and cremated it. After performing the father's rites for their father and dispelling their grief, they began to discuss how to divide the property. The eldest son said, "Let's divide the property." The two younger brothers did not believe him. He insisted, and the two said, "If that's the case, let's first prepare provisions for the next life, and then divide it later." He said, "What should we do?" The two said, "Let's make offerings to the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light Protector." Because he had little faith, he verbally agreed. Then, they made offerings to the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light Protector and began to make aspirations. The two said this: "By this root of virtue, may we two, in the teachings of the perfectly enlightened Bhagavan Light Protector, who prophesied that the Brahmin boy named Lama would become the Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha Shakyamuni when the Brahmin boy reached the age of one hundred, be ordained and attain special qualities." After the two made their aspirations, he heard them, came before them, and began to make aspirations as well: "Because I have little faith and am stubborn, may I also, by this root of virtue, be tamed by the Bhagavan Shakyamuni with five hundred miracles and be ordained, and after being ordained, may I also realize special qualities." Monks, what do you think? That stubborn and faithless eldest son is now Light Protector.

That is so. Who were the two younger brothers? They were the Water River Kashyapa and Gaya Kashyapa. By the power of aspiration, Lighting Kashyapa was subdued by five hundred miracles. Water River Kashyapa and Gaya Kashyapa were subdued when they were young. When King Embodied Essence became a youth, there was a householder in the king's city who had an abundance of delightful flowers, fruits, and water, and he was particularly fond of them. When Embodied Essence went outside, he saw that garden and became very fond of it, saying, "Householder, give me this garden." The householder did not give it. Even after saying it two or three times, he still did not give it, and said, "I will pay the price." The householder said, "Young man, even if I am driven out of the country, I will not offer this garden." The youth Embodied Essence said, "Householder, remember what you have said. When I become king, I myself will honor you." The householder said, "When you become king, I will also go to the king's city." The youth Embodied Essence said goodbye and left. After some time, King Great Lotus died, and the youth Embodied Essence was placed on the throne, and he seized that garden by force. That householder was heartbroken, and because he was particularly fond of that garden, he died and was reborn as a venomous snake. It always sought an opportunity to harm the king. When King Embodied Essence reached the time of the Soga festival, when the flowering trees were in bloom, he and his queen entered that garden, and there, without anyone else present, he enjoyed joyful games with the queen and other consorts, and then fell asleep. The women, being fond of flowers and fruits, wandered about everywhere. One woman laid down a sword and left it to guard the king.
