It is heard that a certain patron offered umbrella robes to the Sangha of monks, and also gave each one a piece of cloth. Having heard this, he thought: "If there is one piece of cloth missing from that, I am not Nede." So he went without being invited. When the householder offered umbrella robes to the Sangha of monks and distributed the cloths, Nede took one piece of cloth and quickly left. After a while, one monk was short of a piece of cloth. The householder said: "Venerables, I have carefully counted a hundred pieces of cloth, could it be that some Venerable has taken two pieces of cloth?" The monks said: "Householder, who would do that? But did you invite the venerable Nede?" "Venerables, I did not invite him. He took that cloth and left." Then, when the householder began to scold, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought: "Whatever fault has occurred is because the monks, without being invited, are greedy for the gains of others. Therefore, a monk should not be greedy for the gains of others without being invited. If he is greedy, he will commit a serious offense." The monks became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: "Venerable, the life-endowed Nede, without being invited, is greedy for the gains of others, please observe." The Blessed One said: "Monks, not only now, but also in the past, Nede was greedy for the gains of others without being invited, listen to that. Monks, in the past, in a place called Riwo, there was a Brahmin who ruled over his retinue. He invited a hundred Brahmin boys for three months, gave them food, and thought: 'I will give each Brahmin boy a piece of cloth.' Not far from there, there was an old Brahmin who heard about this, sat next to the old man, first ate, and then took a piece of cloth and left. When the Brahmin was distributing the cloths, after a while, one Brahmin boy was short of a piece of cloth, so he asked: 'Wise ones, I have a hundred pieces of cloth.'

If they come after counting well, haven't some Brahmin boys taken two pieces of cloth? They said, "Who would do that?" However, did Kyo invite the old Brahmin as a guest? I did not invite him. He first took that piece of cloth and left. That Brahmin started to scold. Monks, what do you think? At that time, at that time, the old Brahmin was this very Nears Delight. Even then, he was not invited. Even now. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. In a certain mountain ravine, there was a householder who built a monastery and vowed to have a monk stay there for the summer retreat. Because the lodging there was very comfortable, he plastered the monastery and swept it every day. That monastery was built in a secluded and beautiful place, decorated with various trees. Swans, cranes, peacocks, parrots, squirrels, and cuckoos were making sounds, and it was decorated with various flowers and fruits. Before long, a captain with great wealth rested at that monastery. He saw the beauty of the monastery and the beauty of the nearby garden, and he became very devoted. Even though he did not see the monastic community of monks, he sent a great deal of wealth for them and left early the next morning. That monk was very cautious. Thinking that these riches belonged to the monastic community, he did not accept them out of regret, but searched for the monks in order to distribute them. At that time, the monks petitioned the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said, "Even if a monk vows to stay in a house made of cow dung for the summer retreat, if Brahmins and householders offer a small or large amount of wealth for the sake of the monastic community, then the one, two, or very many who dwell there, those riches are only theirs, and they should not regret it." Summary: For each share, from giving and righteous wanderers, the monastic community's robes, the gains are to be made into eight kinds. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. The venerable Near Guard asked the Buddha, the Blessed One.

P. Venerable one, if the Sangha becomes numerous in the inner regions of summer, should wealth be given or not given? The Blessed One said: Close relatives are sometimes given to, and sometimes not given to. To whom should it be given? To those who are in accordance with the Dharma. Venerable one, if a monk offers his training in the inner regions of summer and then declines, should wealth be given? Should it not be given? The venerable Shariputra, while wandering, arrived at that monastery, and the householder offered him food and gave him five hundred bolts of cloth. He offered those five hundred bolts of cloth to that monastery and then left. Not long after, two hermits, Lena and Jin, who lived with him, also arrived at Rior while wandering, and the householder offered them food and gave them five hundred bolts of cloth. The monks said: Venerable ones, divide the five hundred bolts of cloth that your preceptor received from that householder among us, so that we may receive these gains today. The two said: The preceptor is one of great merit and wisdom, and he has given to you many times. As they were about to argue again, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Monks, there are these eight kinds of wealth. What are the eight? Wealth obtained by location, wealth obtained by discipline, wealth obtained by support, wealth determined by the Sangha, wealth determined by the monk, the beginning and presence of summer, and individual instruction. What is wealth obtained by location? For example, two places hold the same Uposatha,
