Found it. Then the two of them discussed: One of us will go into the water, and the other will stay on the shore. Whatever is found will be shared. Then one went into the water, and the other stayed on the shore. The one who went into the water drove the fish out and onto the shore, and then the one on the shore killed them. The fish in the water were taken care of by the one in the water. When the fish piled up into a large heap, one of them said: You divide them. The other said: I won't divide them. Why? It wouldn't be good if I made a mistake. That person also said: If that's the case, then I would also be making the same mistake. The two of them were troubled and thinking about it. At that moment, a person named Vashin Jye came to them and said: Nephews, why are you troubled and thinking? Uncle, it's because we found fish. Why don't you divide them? Uncle, we are afraid of making mistakes. Vashin Jye thought: You are afraid of making mistakes, do you want to fall into the hell of sentient beings with your legs crossed? Vashin Jye thought: I should separate them by sowing discord. Then, he saw a tortoise who always served the two of them, and he went to one of them and asked: Nephew, what are you doing here? Uncle, I go into the water. After I go into the water, I drive the fish out, and when they come to the shore, he kills them. Nephew, if going into the water could get even a little benefit, Vashin Jye would always go into the water. The one who goes on the shore is afraid of tree stumps, thorns, wild animals, fire, and cliffs. Furthermore, if he doesn't kill the fish, what good is it for you to drive them out? In short, all the fish that are found are due to his efforts, so take whatever he gives and don't complain. When that person heard these words, he was ashamed because he had been hit on the mark, and he couldn't say a word. Then, Vashin Jye went to the other person and said: Nephew, what are you doing here? Uncle, I go to the shore, and I kill the fish that come to the shore. Nephew, if going to the shore could get even a little benefit, Vashin Jye would always go to the shore. The one who goes into the water is afraid of whirlpools.

and, feared by turtles, feared by crocodiles killing children, feared by the crocodile Kumbhira, there is fear of water. Furthermore, if it doesn't frighten you, how will you kill it? In short, whatever fish are found here are due to its power, so one should accept what it gives and not complain. Having hit the point like that, they sat ashamed and speechless. The one with the broad face said: Nephews, there is a way to divide this without wavering with the rhythm of verses. The one who had been refuted earlier said: Uncle, please do as you please. The one with the broad face divided the fish into three parts: the fish tails were put together, the fish heads were put together, and the middle parts were put together, and then he said in the rhythm of verses: The tail walks on the plain, the head walks in the depths. Whatever the middle body is, it is revered because it abides in the Dharma. The one with the broad face thought: By deceiving these two, I have gained profit, thinking like that. He took the waist of a large fish and went to his mother, and then his mother happily asked in the rhythm of verses: Broad-faced one, where do you come from? Holding a large fish without a head or tail, how did you come back so successfully? He said: Because foolish people argue, not knowing Dharma and non-Dharma, just as the king's treasure increases, he will be content to live. She also said in the rhythm of verses: You who are beautiful to look at, it is very good to suppress others, those two are also happy, and you have also gained perfect benefit. Monks, what do you think? The fox with the broad face at that time was none other than this Nanda. The two otters were these two elders, then those two were deceived by him, and now those two are also deceived. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. On a certain mountain, there was a householder who built a monastery and vowed to have a hundred monks stay there for the summer retreat. That householder had the thought: I will acquire a hundred pieces of cloth, offer umbrellas to the Sangha of monks, and give each monk a piece of cloth. How much does Nanda know?
