He bought the bundle of firewood, and then he saw a jewel called 'Making all beings believe,' and its power was like this: when it was placed in front of a sick person, it would illuminate the true nature of the illness, just like a candle illuminates things in a room. He gradually went to the country of Udumbara, and there was a person there who measured things with a bushel. When he measured things with the bushel, he tapped the edge of the bushel with his hand. The doctor saw this and said, 'You, brother-in-law, why do you do that?' 'My head is particularly itchy.' 'Come here, let me see.' He had him lie down and examined his head. Then, the doctor placed the jewel called 'Making all beings believe' on his head, and immediately he saw worms. Then he said, 'You, brother-in-law, you have worms in your head.' The man joined his palms together and said, 'Please treat me.' The doctor agreed. The doctor thought, 'Just as the teacher taught, I should treat him.' So he said to him, 'You, brother-in-law, for now, today prepare to dig a hole and heavy things, and tomorrow I will treat you.' The man joined his palms together and left. The next day, the doctor came there, put him in the hole, and opened his skull with a surgical instrument for opening the skull. Then he touched the back of the worms with hot, dry firewood, and the man's limbs twitched. Then the doctor took the worms out with the firewood and threw them away, and the man recovered. He gave the man five hundred karshapanas, and the man also gave the money to the son of Common Sense. After that, the doctor went to a place called Rohitaka. In the place of Rohitaka, a wealthy householder had a garden with flowers, fruits, and abundant water. He died because he was particularly attached to that garden and was reborn there as a non-human.

Before long, that non-human began to threaten the man with dropsy, and the man with dropsy said (to the non-human): Why are you threatening me when I caught you before? Look at you, you don't even have a little bit of fumigation with wool smoke, that way you will escape to twelve yojanas away. The non-human also said: Look at you, you don't even have a little bit of alms mixed with the residue after extracting oil from radish seeds, that way you will fall apart into pieces. All of this was heard by the doctor, and he got up early the next morning and went to that householder and said to him: Householder, why have you abandoned that garden which is so rich in flowers, fruits, and water? The householder told him everything that had happened, and the doctor said: Householder, fumigate with wool smoke, and the non-human will escape to twelve yojanas away. After the householder fumigated with wool smoke, that non-human fled to twelve yojanas away. That householder gave the doctor five hundred karshapanas, and the doctor gave these to the son of Common Sense. After that, the doctor asked the man with dropsy: Why are you living in this garden occupied by a non-human? That man told him everything that had happened, and the doctor said: Drink a little something mixed with the residue after extracting oil from radish seeds, and you will be cured. After he drank it, he was cured, and that man also gave the doctor five hundred karshapanas, and the doctor also gave these to the son of Common Sense. After that, the doctor gradually became impoverished and destitute, and he was resting under a tree outside the place of destitution.
