Use this to support your two blind parents, and regularly offer alms to the Fully Enlightened Buddha Kashyapa, and also let yourself be fully content with comfort. That person, having heard from King Kiki, "As if it were a divine command," filled about five hundred carts with pods of ripe fruit, and then went to where the potter Gakyong lived, and having arrived there, said to the potter Gakyong, "Gakyong, King Kiki has sent you about five hundred carts filled with pods of ripe fruit, saying, 'Use this to support your two blind parents, and offer alms to the Fully Enlightened Buddha Kashyapa, and also let yourself be fully content with comfort.'" The potter said, "Alas, Inner Minister, King Kiki needs many things and has many tasks, while I need few things and have few tasks." Having said this, he did not accept them. Monks, what do you think? The brahmin boy who was the leader at that time was none other than myself. Because of the ripening of the karma of my disparagement of persons rather than of enlightenment, I practiced austerities for six years at the heart of enlightenment. If I had given respect to enlightenment, I would again have to exhaust myself greatly for the sake of enlightenment for three countless eons. Venerable One, what kind of deeds did the Blessed One perform, that due to the ripening of those deeds, even when manifestly and perfectly enlightened, the Blessed One was afflicted with dysentery? The Blessed One said, "Monks, the Thus-Gone One himself did and accumulated these deeds in other previous lives." From "called" to "becoming fruits" is as before. Monks, in the past, in a place called Riwo, there was a doctor, and there a householder's son was afflicted with illness. He summoned the doctor and asked him, and the doctor gave him medicine and he recovered, but the householder did not give him a reward. The householder's son was afflicted with illness three times, and the doctor healed him three times, but he did not give him a reward, and from then on, the doctor was tormented by severe diarrhea that was unbearable.

Thinking, this son of the householder, even if I examine him three times, it will not help him in the slightest. Now let him get a hundred diseases, and give him that non-medicine that will cause his internal organs to fall off piece by piece, I will give him that. Thinking this, soon that son of the householder became unwell and fell ill again. That doctor gave rise to unbearable thoughts, and gave him non-medicine, causing his internal organs to fall off piece by piece. Monks, what do you think? That doctor at that time was me. I gave the householder's son non-medicine with evil intentions, causing his internal organs to fall off piece by piece. The result of that karma, from what is called many years, until being boiled in the hells of sentient beings, is as previously stated. The remaining karma of that deed is that even now, when I have attained complete enlightenment, I am still afflicted by dysentery. Venerable ones, what deeds did the Blessed One perform? As a result of that deed, when the Shakyas were killed, the Blessed One's headache became extremely severe. The Blessed One said: Monks, the Tathagata himself did and accumulated these in other previous lives, until they become fruits, as previously stated. Monks, in the past, on the bank of the river Nyen-den (Kin River), five hundred fishermen lived. They caught two very large fish that had entered the Nyen-den River to sleep. They thought: If we kill these two fish, the meat will not spoil or rot, so they staked the two fish with stakes. Whenever someone came to buy fish, they would cut off pieces and give them away. When cutting the bodies of these two fish, they were afflicted by the feeling of suffering, and they made sounds of their own kind, making wailing sounds. At that time, there was a fisherman's child who, when cutting the flesh of those two fish, always liked them to make wailing sounds. Monks, what do you think? That fisherman's child at that time was me.

Now, the ripening of the karma of my having delighted in killing fish, from 'named many years' to 'named headache,' is as before. (The remaining karma) is precisely why, even now, when manifestly, perfectly, completely enlightened, I was afflicted with a very severe headache because of killing the Shakyas. Bhikshus, what deeds did the Blessed One perform? As a result of those deeds, even when manifestly, perfectly, completely enlightened, the Blessed One's back was afflicted with a cold wind illness. The Blessed One said: Bhikshus, the Tathagata himself, in previous lifetimes, did and accumulated these deeds, from 'becoming fruits' as before. Bhikshus, in the past, there was a giant who defeated all the giants of the land and went to the king's palace. In that king's palace, there was a king's giant who had strength and could defeat others, he could endure defeat. He and that giant together began a contest of strength for the sake of the banner. The usual practice of those giants was that a giant could know a giant only from the hand. Then, the king's giant knew that this giant of the land was stronger than himself, so he said: Ni'utzala, I am from a lineage of noble birth. Let yourself throw me down, for me it is only fame, and the banner will be yours. He agreed. He suppressed him. He began to take the banner. He said: Ni'utzala, you are seeking to win by deception or strength, but if you are deceived by me, why should the banner be given to a great benefactor like me who has conquered pride? Three times he engaged in competition with that giant, but still tried to deceive him, Ni'utzala, what will you do with the banner? I have a younger sister who is not yet married, I will give her to you, let yourself throw me down. His wife heard about the deception and said: Prince, do you remember the previous conversation? Then, his wife aroused pride, lifted him up with a strong embrace, and threw him down.
