For that reason, he would bring meat and eat it. When he saw the truth from the Blessed One, he would not eat it but bring it and give it to the monks. When the monks ate those, the heretics would revile, slander, and speak ill, saying: "The wise ones, if meat is brought for General Singha, he does not eat it, but gives it to the Shakyaputra ascetics, and the meat made for the Shakyaputra ascetics is eaten." At that time, the monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: "I do not eat meat that is not suitable in three situations." What are the three? "Meat that is visibly seen to be made for me, I do not eat." "Meat that is heard from belief that 'this is made for you,' I do not eat." "Meat that arises from one's own mind with discrimination, thinking 'this is made for me,' I do not eat." "Monks, I will eat meat that is suitable in three situations." What are the three? "Meat that is not visibly seen to be made for me, I will eat." "Meat that is heard from belief that 'this is not made for you,' I will eat." "Meat that does not arise from one's own mind with discrimination, not thinking 'this is made for me,' I will eat." The origin of the story is in Shravasti. A famine occurred, and the monks were hungry. They sat downcast, and the Brahmins and householders said: "Venerable ones, why do you sit downcast in the teaching for the sake of diligence, and not strive for virtue?" They said: "A famine has occurred, and it is difficult to find alms to fill our stomachs. We are hungry and weak, so we sit downcast." Those people said: "Why don't you accept invitations?

“Sol! The Blessed One did not permit it. Your teacher is compassionate, so there is a possibility that he will permit it.” At that time, the monks requested the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: “Monks, therefore I permit that in such a monastery during the suffering of famine, monks may borrow food to eat, and they should not regret it.” The origin of the story is in Shravasti. When a famine occurred, Brahmins and faithful householders said to the monks: “Venerable ones, please do the work of food here.” After they had done the work of food, they took the alms they had previously obtained and went to the monastery. If they wanted to eat it because of the famine, but did not eat it because of regret, at that time, the monks requested the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: “Therefore I permit that in such a monastery during the suffering of famine, if you want to eat, think that you have already taken it before, and you may also eat what you have previously obtained, and you should not regret it.” The origin of the story is in Shravasti. When a famine occurred, Brahmins and faithful householders invited the monks to their homes for meals, and after they had eaten, some leftovers remained. The Brahmins and householders said: “Venerable ones, this has been prepared for you, so please take it and eat it later.” They took it and left. After leaving, if they wanted to eat it, but did not eat it because of regret, at that time, the monks requested the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: “Therefore I permit that in such a monastery during the suffering of famine, think that these have been given, and you may eat them, and you should not regret it.” The origin of the story is in Shravasti. When a famine occurred, Brahmins and faithful householders invited the monks for meals, and after they had eaten, some food and other things remained. When the monks were leaving, the Brahmins and householders said: “This is only for you, venerable ones.”

It was sent to a certain place, and they came with things, saying, 'We have come to offer to you alone.' The monks wanted to eat those things, but because they had already renounced them, they regretted it and did not eat. The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, 'Therefore, I allow you to think like this: 'In a famine monastery, such suffering has been completely abandoned before.' Then eat it, and do not regret it.' The origin of the story is in Shravasti. Brahmins and faithful householders, after the fruits in the western garden had ripened, they thought, 'These things are difficult to obtain, we should offer them to the noble ones.' They gave those things to the monks who had already eaten and renounced. The monks regretted that they had already renounced and did not eat. The Brahmins and faithful householders said, 'Noble ones, when the Blessed One had not yet come into the world, we offered to the heretics. Now that the Blessed One has come into the world, you have also become worthy of offerings. If you do not accept, will we lose the accumulation of merit and go from this world to another world? Therefore, please accept with compassion!' The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, 'Therefore, I allow you to think like this: 'These things are difficult to obtain.' Then eat it, and do not regret it.' The fruits in those gardens are: grapes, Nepali apples, peaches, pomegranates, amla, Uramana fruit, Urumayika fruit, Nikotsa fruit, Babu fruit, Simzaka fruit. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. Brahmins and faithful householders, after the monks had finished eating, offered food that grows in water. Although the monks wanted to eat, they regretted that they had already renounced it and did not eat. The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, 'You should think like this: 'These things are difficult to obtain.' Then eat it, and do not regret it.'
