Having made a good meal, If I eat the oil cake, Then I will be full, I think I can survive for a day. Then, a fortunate Pratyekabuddha, Whose cycle of rebirths has ended, With great miraculous powers and unbearable splendor, A terrifying ascetic came. I thought in my mind: The suffering of being tormented by hunger, Is because I did not accumulate merit in the past, That is why I am so hungry. Rather, I will give this ascetic, This pure oil cake as an offering, I would rather die of starvation, Than endure such hunger. Then, I had faith in him, With a happy and satisfied mind, I offered the oil cake to the worthy monk, The field of merit. The fortunate one took it, Out of compassion for me, He enjoyed it right there, Then he ascended into the sky. Then, I made the following aspiration: May I not be hungry, And may I also seek good complexions, And noble lineage. May I always be together With such elders as these. Whatever you have realized, May I also know such Dharma. By doing that virtuous deed, I experienced much happiness. By accumulating merit, I became beautiful, As gods and humans. Even the kingdoms of gods and humans, I have enjoyed many times. Because of that deed, many times, I have not gone to the lower realms. Then, with the remainder of the karma, In this, my last rebirth, In the excellent city of the Shakyas, I was born into a noble lineage. This, my last birth, Is when I obtained a human existence, I pleased the unsurpassed, perfectly enlightened Buddha, This Shakya Lion. When the Buddha, the Bhagavan, Went to the place of relatives, At that time, I, in front of the relatives, Ordained and received full ordination. Whatever my aspiration was, That I have completely fulfilled, The cool, extinguished Nirvana, I have also attained the Arhat. One who renounced from the royal lineage, Buddha's relative, Good Excellent, In the great Lake Anavatapta, Prophesied his own karma. The Twenty-ninth Chapter, Shakya King Good Excellent, is complete. Then, the elder monks said to the venerable Beautiful Excellent:

Thus he spoke. The venerable Subhadra, the venerable Shakya king Suddhodana, has already narrated the cause of his karma. Venerable Subhadra, please also narrate the cause of your karma now. Then, the venerable Subhadra then narrated the cause of his karma: 'The protector dispels wrong beliefs, when a stupa was being built, at that time I was a clay taker, as a hired worker from that time on, when I was building the stupa, I repeatedly observed, this stupa is too big, when will it ever be finished? This stupa is short in height, if it were made small, it would cost little and have no trouble, and it would be finished quickly. That ripening of karma and, the fault of speech committed, from then the time of death came, and I was born in the hells. After I died from hell, wherever I was born, with an ugly color and small size, I was completely despised by everyone. During the teachings of Kashyapa Buddha, in the past I was a cuckoo bird, on the road to Varanasi, I lived in a dense forest. There, the illuminator of the world, with the Sangha of monks in front, I uttered a beautiful voice, and circled in the sky. Whenever the perfectly enlightened one, saw me going for alms, I always circled around his appearance and departure. By that root of virtue, after I obtained the state of a human, I pleased the perfect and unsurpassed Buddha, this leader. In the teachings of Shakya Lion, after I obtained ordination, I obtained the coolness of nirvana, and I also obtained the Arhat. I am the best of all those who see, the best of the melodious ones, learned and upholding the Dharma, and shown to be one with good eloquence. Whether gods or humans, the fourfold retinue from me, after hearing the pleasant Dharma, all will be greatly delighted. The deeds of doing little good and, doing much evil, since the karmas are not wasted, one must experience their fruits.' Thus, the venerable Subhadra, sitting in front of the Sangha of monks, at the great lake of Anavatapta
