It has become so. When people's lifespan reaches eighty thousand years, it is said that this Jambudvipa becomes prosperous, as it is stated in detail in the Sutra of the Possessor of Dharma. When people's lifespan reaches eighty thousand years, such harms to the body occur: such as cold, heat, hunger, thirst, desire, eating, and aging. When people's lifespan reaches eighty thousand years, a king named 'བྱེད་ལྡན' appeared. In the garden of King 'བྱེད་ལྡན', there is a tree king called 'ཤིང་ནཡ་གྲོ་དྷའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཤིན་ཏུ་རབ་གནས', which is very sacred. Near the tree king 'ཤིང་ནཡ་གྲོ་དྷའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཤིན་ཏུ་རབ་གནས', there is a Brahmin named 'རྩིབས་ཀྱི་མུ་ཁྱུད', like a great Sala tree, who makes about five hundred Brahmin children recite the secret mantras of the Brahmins. Then, the Brahmin 'རྩིབས་ཀྱི་མུ་ཁྱུད', like a great Sala tree, went alone to a secluded place and had such thoughts in his mind: People have short lives and must go to the next life. Since there is no one who is born and does not die, one should do good deeds and practice celibacy. However, now these people are less and less inclined to pursue benefits, accumulate merit, and do good deeds. Rather, I should shave my hair and beard, wear saffron robes, and renounce the household for homelessness with only pure faith! Then, the Brahmin 'རྩིབས་ཀྱི་མུ་ཁྱུད', like a great Sala tree, said to the Brahmin children: Brahmin children, know this! From 'I am alone' to 'renunciation', tell it in detail. Brahmin children, I have shaved my hair and beard... If I renounce, what will the wise ones do? Venerable one, everything we need depends on the wise venerable one. If the wise venerable one shaves his hair and beard... If he renounces, we will also follow the wise venerable one and renounce. Brahmin children, know to seize the opportunity! Then, the Brahmin 'རྩིབས་ཀྱི་མུ་ཁྱུད', like a great Sala tree, shaved his hair and beard...

Even up to the point of renunciation. Those five hundred Brahmin boys also shaved their hair and beards, donned saffron robes, and like the great Brahmin Sala tree, the circumference of the ribs all renounced after renouncing. Then, like the great Brahmin Sala tree, the circumference of the ribs, from "abandoning the five obscurations that will not lead to liberation from suffering" to "extensively spreading the mind of loving-kindness," and between "extensively spreading compassion, joy, and equanimity" should be spoken. Corresponding to equanimity, without resentment, without rivalry, without harm, vast and expansive, immeasurable, through diligent practice, believing and pervading, perfectly abiding. Then, the name of the great Brahmin Sala tree, like the circumference of the ribs, the great Brahmin Sala tree, like the circumference of the ribs, the great Brahmin Sala tree, like the circumference of the ribs, all disappeared, and he was known as the Teacher Rib Circumference. Then, the Teacher Rib Circumference said to the Brahmin boys: Brahmin boys, people are short-lived, full of afflictions, and do not last long, and they are also accompanied by suffering. For example, dew clinging to the tip of grass quickly falls when the sun rises and does not last long. Brahmin boys, similarly, people's lives are like dew, not lasting long, full of afflictions, and also accompanied by suffering. For example, when a painter paints on water, it quickly disappears and does not last long. Brahmin boys, similarly, people's lives are like paintings on water, not lasting long, full of afflictions, and also accompanied by suffering. For example, when a line is drawn on water with a stick, it quickly disappears and does not last long. Similarly, life is like drawing a line with a stick. For example, when a ball of thread is thrown into water, it quickly unravels and does not last long. Similarly, life is like a ball of thread. For example, when a diamond is thrown into water, it is quickly taken out and does not last long. Similarly, life is like throwing a diamond into water. For example, throwing a stick into the sky

The earth quickly collapses and does not last long. Similarly, life is like a stick thrown into the sky. For example, however much the loom weaves, it will reach the end. Similarly, life is like weaving to the end. For example, a livestock led to slaughter is one step closer to death with each step. Similarly, life is like livestock being slaughtered. For example, a person led to slaughter is one step closer to death with each step. Similarly, life is like a person being slaughtered. For example, if a piece of meat is put into a large copper pot of water and a fire is lit underneath, it will quickly become tender and will not last long. Similarly, life is like a piece of meat. Vinaya-vastu, Volume 50. For example, a river flowing from a mountain is deep, rapid, and flows far, carrying away everything. As those days and nights pass, and those moments, instants, and brief periods pass, the existence and disappearance of the water are imperceptible. Similarly, the lives of people are like the flow of a river, not lasting long, brief, and filled with suffering. Brahmin youths, from "I am endowed with loving-kindness" to "extensively dwelling in a mind endowed with compassion, joy, and equanimity." Brahmin youths, you too should abide with a mind of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Great King, the Teacher Wheel-Turning King lived for so long, existed for so long, and reached the end of his life, but sometimes he would also teach the Dharma to the monks, saying, "The lives of people are short, not lasting long, brief, and filled with suffering." Great King, what do you think? Do you think that the Teacher Wheel-Turning King at that time was someone else? You should not see it that way. In fact, I myself was the Teacher Wheel-Turning King at that time. Great King, the benefit I have done for sentient beings has enabled me to attain unsurpassed, perfectly complete Bodhi.
