如果我拥有能够击退我的刽子手和不友善之人的能力，然而，有智慧的持国天曾说过：“这个世界是无法追随的，因此是无依无靠的。”有智慧的持国天是从什么角度这样说的呢？大王，因此我问你，请你像你忍受的那样回答我吧。大王，现在你的身体有什么不适吗？持国天啊，我有不适，现在风在我的背部侵扰。大王，当风侵扰我的背部时，如果我说：‘我的儿子、妻子、奴隶、仆人、弄臣、理发师、浴师、驯服者、骑象者、骑马者、车夫、屠夫、弓箭手、侍从、掷骰子者、舞蹈者，以及国王之子，勇敢而坚韧，拥有强大力量的人们，都过来！消除我所生和所经历的强烈、粗暴、灼热、难以忍受、令人不快的感受吧！’这样能成功吗？持国天啊，不能成功。当风侵扰我的背部时，即使我说：‘我的儿子、妻子、奴隶、仆人、弄臣、理发师、浴师、驯服者、象夫、骑马者、车夫、屠夫、弓箭手、侍从、掷骰子者、舞蹈者，以及国王之子，勇敢而坚韧，拥有强大力量的人们，都过来！消除我所生和所经历的强烈、粗暴、灼热、难以忍受、令人不快的感受吧！’也不会成功。那时，只有我独自承受强烈、粗暴、灼热、难以忍受、令人不快的感受。大王，如来、阿罗汉、正等觉、明行足者，正是由此领悟到，才说‘这个世界是无法追随的，因此是无依无靠的。’

If I possessed the ability to repel my executioners and unfriendly people, however, the wise Dhritarashtra once said, "This world is not to be followed, therefore it is without refuge." From what perspective did the wise Dhritarashtra say this? Great King, therefore I ask you, please answer me as you endure. Great King, do you have any physical discomfort now? O Dhritarashtra, I have discomfort, now the wind is afflicting my back. Great King, when the wind afflicts my back, if I say, 'My sons, wives, slaves, servants, jesters, barbers, bathers, trainers, elephant riders, horse riders, charioteers, butchers, archers, attendants, dice players, dancers, and the king's sons, brave and steadfast, those who possess great strength, come here! Eradicate the intense, rough, burning, unbearable, unpleasant feelings that I have experienced and that have arisen in me!' Would that succeed? O Dhritarashtra, it would not succeed. When the wind afflicts my back, even if I say, 'My sons, wives, slaves, servants, jesters, barbers, bathers, trainers, elephant keepers, horse riders, charioteers, butchers, archers, attendants, dice players, dancers, and the king's sons, brave and steadfast, those who possess great strength, come here! Eradicate the intense, rough, burning, unbearable, unpleasant feelings that have arisen and been born in me!' it would not succeed. At that time, I alone experience the intense, rough, burning, unbearable, unpleasant feelings. Great King, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, knowing and seeing, from this understanding, said, 'This world is not to be followed, therefore it is without refuge.'

When the dharma of death, which is disliked by many, unwanted by many, displeasing to many, and disagreeable to many, and is common to all in this world, arrives, my sons, wives, servants, and laborers, and even the sons of the king, come here! If I say, who can follow me from this world to the next? O Protector of the Land, it is not possible. Ro! The great king, the Bhagavan Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, the knower and seer, having considered this, said that this world will all be abandoned and go away, therefore it is without possessions. Having known, seen, heard, and understood that, I have shaved my hair and beard, put on saffron robes, and with only true faith, have gone forth from home to homelessness. I am pleased and patient with that. Wise protector of the land, whatever you are pleased and patient with, I am also pleased and patient with that. Wise protector of the land, whoever says this, that this world is never satisfied and is driven by desire and never satisfied. Alas! Protector of the land, I enjoy this very thing that is widely known for its bad reputation, and many consorts, and treasuries and storehouses are full, and I enjoy them to the fullest.
