དེ་ནས་སྡེ་དཔོན་འཕགས་སྐྱེས་པོས་ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་སྨྲས་སོ། །དགེ་སྦྱོང་གཽ་ཏ་མ་ནི་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་ལྷ་རྣམས་ནི་ཚེ་ལྷག་པར་རིང་བ། ལྷག་པར་ཡུན་རིང་དུ་གནས་པ་ཡིན་ནོ་ཞེས་གསུང་བར་འགྱུར་བ་གང་ལགས་པའི་གནས་དེ་མཆིས་སོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་སྣམ་ལོགས་ན་རྔུལ་ཡབ་ཐོགས་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་གཡོབ་ཅིང་འདུག་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། ། དེ་ནས་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས་ཏེ། སྡེ་དཔོན་ལུས་འཕགས་པོ་འདི་ནི་ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་གྱི་བུ་ཡིན་ལ། བདག་ཀྱང་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཆོས་ཉིད་ཀྱི་སྲས་ཡིན་པས་སྲས་དང་བུ་ནི་ལྷན་ཅིག་གཏམ་བྱར་རུང་ངོ་སྙམ་དུ་རིག་ནས་སྡེ་དཔོན་ལུས་འཕགས་ཕོ་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་སྨྲས་སོ། །སྡེ་དཔོན་ཇི་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས། ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོའ་རང་གི་ཡུལ་ཡིན་ལ། དེ་ན་ཡང་དེའི་ཚིག་གིས་ཁྲིམས་སུ་བཅའ་བ་ལ་དབང་སྒྱུར་ན་སེམས་ཅན་དབང་ཆུང་དུ་ཁ་ཅིག་གནས་དེ་ནས་འཆི་འཕོ་བར་བྱ་བ་འམ། སྤྱུག་པར་ནུས་སམ། དགེ་སྦྱོང་ནུས་སོ། །སྡེ་དཔོན་ཇི་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས། ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་གྱི་རང་གི་ཡུལ་མ་ཡིན་ལ། དེ་ན་ཡང་དེའི་ཚིག་གིས་ཁྲིམས་སུ་བཅའ་བ་ལ་དབང་མི་སྒྱུར་ན། ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་གྱིས་སེམས་ཅན་དབང་ཆུང་བ་ཁ་ཅིག་གནས་དེ་ནས་འཆི་འཕོ་བར་བྱ་བའམ། སྤྱུག་པར་ནུས་སམ། དགེ་སྦྱོང་ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་རང་གི་ཡུལ་མ་ཡིན་ལ། དེ་ན་ཡང་དེའི་ཚིག་གིས་ཁྲིམས་སུ་བཅའ་བ་ལ་དབང་མི་སྒྱུར་ན། ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་གྱིས་སེམས་ཅན་དབང་ཆུང་ངུ་ཁ་ཅིག་གནས་དེ་ནས་འཆི་འཕོ་བར་བྱ་བའམ། སྤྱུག་པར་མི་ནུས་སོ། །སྡེ་དཔོན་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་སུམ་བཅུ་རྩ་གསུམ་པའི་ལྷ་རྣམས་ཡོད་སྐད་ཐོས་སམ། དགེ་སྦྱོང་ཀོ་ས་ལའི་བདག་པོ་རྒྱལ་པོ་འདི་ཉིད་ལས་ཐོས་སོ། །སྡེ་དཔོན་ཇི་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས། ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་གྱིས་སུམ་བཅུ་རྩ་གསུམ་པའི་ལྷ་རྣམས་གནས་དེ་ནས་འཆི་འཕོ་བར་བྱ་བའམ། སྤྱུག་པར་ནུས་སམ། དགེ་སྦྱོང་རེ་ཞིག་ཀོ་ས་ལའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གསལ་རྒྱལ་གྱིས་སུམ་བཅུ་རྩ་གསུམ་པའི་ལྷ་རྣམས་མཐོང་བ་ཡང་ཉམས་སུ་མི་མྱོང་ན་གནས་དེ་ནས་འཆི་འཕོ་བར་བྱ་བའམ། སྤྱུག་པ་ལྟ་སྨོས་ཀྱང་ཅི་དགོས། སྡེ་དཔོན་དེ་བཞིན་དུ་གནོད་པ་དང་བཅས་པའི་ལྷ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་གནོད་པ་མེད་པའི་ལྷ་རྣམས་མཐོང་བ་ཡང་ཉམས་སུ་མི་མྱོང་ན་གནས་དེ་ནས་འཆི་འཕོ་བར་བྱ་བའམ། སྤྱུག་པ་ལྟ་སྨོས་ཀྱང་

此后， सेनापति श्रेष्ठपुत्र ने कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् से इस प्रकार कहा: श्रमण गौतम ऐसा कहते हैं कि देवता अधिक समय तक जीवित रहते हैं, अधिक समय तक स्थिर रहते हैं, यह बात कहाँ है? उस समय, आयुष्मान् आनन्द भगवान् के वस्त्र के किनारे पर पसीना पोंछने वाला वस्त्र लेकर भगवान् को हिलाते हुए बैठे थे। फिर आयुष्मान् आनन्द ने इस प्रकार सोचा: सेनापति श्रेष्ठपुत्र कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् के पुत्र हैं, और मैं भी भगवान् के धर्म का पुत्र हूँ, इसलिए पुत्र और पुत्र एक साथ बात करने योग्य हैं, ऐसा जानकर सेनापति श्रेष्ठपुत्र से इस प्रकार कहा: सेनापति, क्या सोचते हो? कोसल के राजा का अपना देश है, और वहाँ भी उनके वचन से कानून बनाने में अधिकार है, तो क्या वे कुछ कमजोर प्राणियों को उस स्थान से मरने या हटाने में सक्षम हैं? श्रमण सक्षम हैं। सेनापति, क्या सोचते हो? कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् का अपना देश नहीं है, और वहाँ भी उनके वचन से कानून बनाने में अधिकार नहीं है, तो क्या कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् कुछ कमजोर प्राणियों को उस स्थान से मरने या हटाने में सक्षम हैं? श्रमण, कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् का अपना देश नहीं है, और वहाँ भी उनके वचन से कानून बनाने में अधिकार नहीं है, तो क्या कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् कुछ छोटे कमजोर प्राणियों को उस स्थान से मरने या हटाने में सक्षम हैं? वे ऐसा नहीं कर सकते। सेनापति, क्या तुमने त्रयस्त्रिंश देवताओं के बारे में सुना है? श्रमण, मैंने कोसल के स्वामी राजा से ही सुना है। सेनापति, क्या सोचते हो? क्या कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् त्रयस्त्रिंश देवताओं को उस स्थान से मरने या हटाने में सक्षम हैं? श्रमण, एक बार कोसल के राजा प्रसेनजित् ने त्रयस्त्रिंश देवताओं को देखा भी नहीं है, तो उस स्थान से मरने या हटाने की बात तो दूर। सेनापति, इसी प्रकार, हानिकारक देवताओं ने हानिकारक देवताओं को देखा भी नहीं है, तो उस स्थान से मरने या हटाने की बात तो दूर।

Then, the commander-in-chief Shreshthiputra said to King Prasenajit of Kosala: "Where is it, O mendicant Gautama, that you say that the gods live longer and remain stable for a longer time?" At that time, the venerable Ananda was sitting beside the Blessed One's robe, holding a sweat cloth and fanning the Blessed One. Then the venerable Ananda thought to himself: "This commander-in-chief Shreshthiputra is the son of King Prasenajit of Kosala, and I am also the son of the Blessed One's Dharma, so a son and a son are worthy to converse together." Knowing this, he said to the commander-in-chief Shreshthiputra: "Commander-in-chief, what do you think? The king of Kosala has his own country, and there he has the power to make laws by his word, so is he able to cause some weak beings to die or be removed from that place?" "Mendicant, he is able." "Commander-in-chief, what do you think? The king of Kosala does not have his own country, and there he does not have the power to make laws by his word, so is the king of Kosala able to cause some weak beings to die or be removed from that place?" "Mendicant, the king of Kosala does not have his own country, and there he does not have the power to make laws by his word, so is the king of Kosala able to cause some small weak beings to die or be removed from that place?" "He is not able to do so." "Commander-in-chief, have you heard of the gods of the Thirty-three?" "Mendicant, I have heard of them from the lord of Kosala, the king himself." "Commander-in-chief, what do you think? Is the king of Kosala able to cause the gods of the Thirty-three to die or be removed from that place?" "Mendicant, for a moment, the king of Kosala has not even experienced seeing the gods of the Thirty-three, so what need is there to speak of causing them to die or be removed from that place?" "Commander-in-chief, likewise, the gods who are with harm have not even experienced seeing the gods who are without harm, so what need is there to speak of causing them to die or be removed from that place?"
