The section of Yitsa Nangala. The section of Yitsa Nangala. Summary: Desire and harmony, and mostly, seven leaves and sprouts, Sravasti, city with a goiter, Lion City and New City, city and stacked houses, the latter being Nyagrodha City, these twelve cities are spoken of. The Blessed One dwelt in harmony with desire, in the forest of harmony with desire. Then the Blessed One spoke to the monks: Monks, I wish to enter into meditative absorption for these three months, except for the alms-gatherer and the fifteenth-day Uposatha, no monk should come here. The Blessed One entered into meditative absorption for those three months, and except for the alms-gathering monk and the fifteenth-day Uposatha, no monk went there. Then, after those three months had passed, the Blessed One sat down on the prepared seat in the midst of the community of monks. Having sat down, the Blessed One spoke to the monks: Monks, if other non-Buddhists and wanderers come near to you and ask this question: Where did the ascetic Gautama enter into meditative absorption for these three months? When asked in this way, you should answer: He dwelt with breathing in and out. Why is that? Monks, I have entered into meditative absorption for these three months with mindfulness of breathing in and out. When I breathe in with mindfulness, I truly know that I breathe in with mindfulness. When I breathe out with mindfulness, I truly know that I breathe out with mindfulness. Whether long or short, when breathing in experiencing the whole body with mindfulness, I truly know that I breathe in experiencing the whole body with mindfulness. When breathing out experiencing the whole body with mindfulness, I truly know that I breathe out experiencing the whole body with mindfulness. Having thoroughly calmed the bodily activities, breathing in, and the bodily activities

From "Having trained well, when exhaling, one also knows exactly as it is when exhaling, and when inhaling, one also knows exactly as it is when inhaling," to "Observing cessation, one also knows exactly as it is when exhaling," everything is as previously stated. Monks, then I thought to myself: I am disgusted with the obvious coarse dwelling, rather I should abandon that dwelling and abide many times in an extremely subtle dwelling. So, in order to abandon that dwelling, I abandoned it and abided many times in an extremely subtle dwelling. Then, three gods came to where I was, and one of the gods said this: The ascetic Gautama has erred. The second god said this: This is not an error, but he is deliberately erring. The third god said this: It is neither an error nor a deliberate error, but the dwelling of the Arhats is just so peaceful. Monks, whatever is rightly spoken of as the dwelling of the noble ones, the dwelling of the gods, the dwelling of Brahma, and the dwelling of the non-learners, that is the dwelling of the Tathagata (Buddha). It is entered into in order for the learners to obtain what has not been obtained, to realize what has not been realized, and to manifest what has not been manifested. It is entered into in order for the non-learners to abide happily in the present Dharma. If one speaks correctly, that is abiding by the mindfulness of breathing in and breathing out. What is the reason for that? Monks, abiding by the mindfulness of breathing in and breathing out is the dwelling of the noble ones, and so on, until it is entered into in order for the non-learners to abide happily in the present Dharma, all of which is as previously stated. The Blessed One, traveling from Kosala, went according to his wishes, and resided in the forest according to his wishes. At that time, King Pasenadi of Kosala gave a large share to a Brahmin named Padmacitta (Lotus Heart) as an object of Brahminical almsgiving, along with taxes including grass, wood, and water.
