Having abandoned, when comfort and discomfort also vanish, neither comfort nor suffering, with equanimity and complete purity of mindfulness, having perfected the meditation as it is, when abiding, his mind is neither agitated nor sunk. Without agitation and without sinking, having attained immovable abiding, he thinks thus: 'This form of my body is born from the cause of the four great elements, my consciousness relies on this, dwells in this, pervades this, I shall move my mind from this body.' Thinking, 'I shall manifest another body born of mind, its form and senses complete and not inferior.' He then moves his mind from that body, manifesting another body born of mind, its form and senses complete and not inferior. For example, a beautiful beryl jewel, possessing good qualities, bright and without stain, pierced with a five-colored thread, such as blue, yellow, red, white, and lotus color, a person with eyes seeing it knows, 'This is the thread, this is the jewel, this is the thread piercing the jewel.' Likewise, he moves his mind from that body, manifesting another body born of mind, its form and senses complete and not inferior. Or as a man draws a shaft from munja grass, a person with eyes seeing it knows, 'This is munja, this is the shaft, it is a shaft drawn from munja.' Likewise, he moves his mind from that body, manifesting another body born of mind, its form and senses complete and not inferior. Or as a man draws a snake from its slough, a person with eyes seeing it knows, 'This is the slough, this is the snake, it is a snake drawn from its slough.' Likewise, he moves his mind from that body, manifesting another body born of mind, its form and senses complete and not inferior. Or as a man draws a sword from its scabbard, a person with eyes seeing it knows, 'This is the scabbard, this is the sword.'

Just as one knows, "This is a sword, the sword has been drawn from its sheath," so too, he moves consciousness from that body, and then manifests another body produced from consciousness, a body whose senses are complete and not inferior. When he thus places his mind in a state of equanimity, his mind being completely pure, completely cleansed, without afflictions, free from near afflictions, upright, abiding in a state of readiness, having attained immovability, he directs his mind towards the direct knowledge of supernormal faculties, in order to realize the knowledge of the realm of supernormal faculties. He experiences various realms of supernormal faculties, such as, he becomes one from many, and becomes many from one, and experiences the vision of wisdom of appearing and disappearing, and also goes directly through walls, goes directly through ramparts, goes directly through mountains. He goes unimpeded by the body, just as one goes on land and in the sky. On land, too, he goes upwards, and flits about like a bird, just as one goes in water. In water, too, he goes against the current, just as one goes on land. In the sky, too, he goes cross-legged, just like a winged bird. He grasps and touches with his hand the sun and the moon, these two that have such great supernormal faculties and such great power. His body exercises power as far as the world of Brahma. For example, just as a goldsmith or a skilled goldsmith's apprentice, knowing that gold has become very workable, then quickly makes whatever shape he desires to make by hammering, whether it be a bowl, a necklace, a bracelet, an anklet, a finger ring, or a gold chain. In the same way, when he thus places his mind in a state of equanimity, his mind being completely pure, completely cleansed, without afflictions, free from near afflictions, upright, abiding in a state of readiness, having attained immovability, he directs his mind towards the direct knowledge of supernormal faculties, in order to realize the knowledge of the realm of supernormal faculties. For example, from "he becomes one from many" up to "his body exercises power as far as the world of Brahma" is as before. For example, a skilled potter's apprentice

Just as a potter makes a lump of clay very workable, and whatever kind of pottery he wants to make, he can quickly make it. Now, like this, when he abides in a mind that is completely pure, completely purified, without afflictions, and free from near afflictions, just as mentioned before, until he can control the Brahma world with his body. For example, a clever potter or a disciple of a potter, knowing that the clay has become very workable, whatever shape he wants to make, he can quickly make it. Like this, when he abides in a mind that is completely pure and completely purified, just as mentioned before, until he can control the Brahma world with his body. Like this, when he abides in a mind that is completely pure, completely purified, without afflictions, free from near afflictions, upright, abiding in a workable state, having attained immovability, he directs his mind towards the manifestation of the superknowledge of knowing the divine ear. With that divine ear, which is pure and transcends the human realm, he hears both the sounds of humans or non-humans, whether they are far or near. For example, a person blowing a conch shell, he climbs onto a huge rocky mountain, and blows the conch shell at midnight, that sound will spread unobstructed in all directions. Similarly, when he abides in a mind that is completely pure, completely purified, without afflictions, free from near afflictions, upright, abiding in a workable state, having attained immovability, he directs his mind towards the manifestation of the superknowledge of knowing the divine ear. With that divine ear, which is pure and transcends the human realm, he hears both the sounds of humans or non-humans, whether they are far or near. Like this, when he abides in a mind that is completely pure, completely purified, without afflictions, free from near afflictions, upright, abiding in a workable state, having attained immovability, he directs his mind towards the manifestation of the superknowledge of knowing the varieties of minds.
