Form. Conditioned by name and form arise the six sense bases. Conditioned by the six sense bases arises contact. Conditioned by contact arises feeling. Conditioned by feeling arises craving. Conditioned by craving arises grasping. Conditioned by grasping arises becoming. Conditioned by becoming arises birth. Conditioned by birth arise aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, displeasure, and turmoil. Thus, this entire great mass of suffering arises. This is to say: When this is not, this does not arise, and when this ceases, this ceases. This is to say: With the cessation of ignorance, actions cease. With the cessation of actions, consciousness ceases. With the cessation of consciousness, name and form cease. With the cessation of name and form, the six sense bases cease. With the cessation of the six sense bases, contact ceases. With the cessation of contact, feeling ceases. With the cessation of feeling, craving ceases. With the cessation of craving, grasping ceases. With the cessation of grasping, becoming ceases. With the cessation of becoming, birth ceases. With the cessation of birth, aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, displeasure, and turmoil cease. Thus, this entire great mass of suffering ceases. Monks, however, I will explain to you the Dharma Mirror's categories of Dharma. Listen well and keep them in mind, and I will explain. What are the Dharma Mirror's categories of Dharma? Having known and having faith in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha is the Dharma Mirror's category of Dharma. The precepts pleasing to the noble ones are the Dharma Mirror's category of Dharma. That which I said, 'I will explain to you the Dharma Mirror's categories of Dharma,' is this. Amra Rakshita heard that the Blessed One had departed from Spong Byed and was traveling, and had arrived in Sravasti (舍卫城). He was staying in the hermitage of the ascetic Sgra Sgrogs in Sravasti. Having heard this, Amra Rakshita had a parrot named Bzhin rgyas, who understood human speech. Amra Rakshita said to the parrot Bzhin rgyas: "Bzhin rgyas, come here! Go to where the Blessed One is, and having gone there, with my words, bow your head to the Blessed One's two feet."

Ah la! Is there little harm? Is there little fear? Is the movement light? Is life comfortable? Is there no harm? Are strength and ease wisely enjoyed? Thus inquire about the illness. This is from the message of the Mango Guardian Woman: "Venerable One, Blessed One, when you go to Vaishali, please have compassion and first visit my mango grove." Then, Parrot Face, having heard the message of the Mango Guardian Woman, went to where the Blessed One was. The Licchavi children of Vaishali saw him and said, "Wise ones, this parrot is a prostitute's." They began to shoot arrows at him, but the arrows fell back on them. Then, the parrot said in verse, "Even when sending to other places, there is the saying 'Do not kill the messenger.' How can embodied beings kill a messenger of the Victor like me?" They also said in verse, "If your words can turn back the arrows, what need is there for us to say? You are greatly protected by miraculous powers, go without fear!" Then, Parrot Face went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One, "Venerable One, the Mango Guardian Woman bows her head at the feet of the Blessed One, and asks if there is little harm? Is there little fear? Is the movement light? Is life comfortable? Is there no harm? Are strength and ease abiding?" Parrot Face, may you and the Mango Guardian Woman be well! "Venerable One, from the message of the Mango Guardian Woman, when the Blessed One goes to Vaishali, please have compassion and first visit my mango grove." That is what she said. The Blessed One did not say anything to Parrot Face, thus granting permission. Then, Parrot Face, knowing that the Blessed One had granted permission by not speaking, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and departed from the presence of the Blessed One. Having generated joy towards the Blessed One and departed, not long after, he died from illness, and after death was born as a god in the retinue of the Four Great Kings. Having been born by the nature of Dharma, not long after.
