There once was a king named Rab Grog. He became friends with the god Indra. He desired a son, but having none, he rested his cheek on his hand, lost in thought, thinking: Even if I accumulate so much wealth, because I have no son, the royal lineage will be cut off when I die. Then, Indra saw him and asked: Friend, why do you rest your cheek on your hand and look so troubled? He replied: Kauśika, even if I accumulate so much wealth, because I have no son, the royal lineage will be cut off when I die. Indra said: Friend, do not be troubled. If a god shows signs of death and rebirth, he shall be appointed as your son. By nature, when a god shows signs of death and rebirth, five omens will appear: clothes that are not old will become old, garlands of flowers that are not withered will wither, an unpleasant odor will emanate from the body, sweat will drip from the armpits, and one will become displeased with one's seat. When a god shows these five omens, Indra said to him: Friend, take rebirth in the sacred womb of King Rab Grog's queen. He said: Kauśika, that is a place of recklessness. Kauśika, kings commit many faults, and it is not right to rule the kingdom without Dharma, causing sentient beings to fall into hell. Indra said: Friend, I will remind you. Kauśika, the gods are often reckless due to great joy. Friend, if that is true, I will remind you. So, he took rebirth in the sacred womb of King Rab Grog's queen. On the very day he took rebirth, a great crowd of people raised a loud cheer. After eight or nine months, a boy was born... up to "high nose bridge," it is the same as before. His relatives gathered and discussed naming the child. What name should the child be given? The relatives said: This child entered his mother's womb on this very day.

The boy 'Great Sound' was entrusted to eight mothers, starting with eight nurses, and he became skilled in distinguishing and reading, and became a virtuous friend, just as before. He received empowerment from the crown of the royal family, and obtained the power, strength, and diligence of the country. He ruled the great circle of the earth with manifest subjugation, and was skilled in various crafts and professions, such as: riding elephants, riding horses, chariot tactics, swordsmanship, archery, retreating, advancing, manipulating with hooks, binding with ropes, throwing javelins, striking with clubs, mastering grips, footwork, cutting, cleaving, piercing, striking from a distance, striking with sound, striking the vital points, striking imperceptibly, and heavy blows, etc. He became very proficient in these five skills. According to custom, the son's name should not be announced until the father has passed away. At another time, King Rabzho placed Shin Sa Great Sound on the throne, and he initially allowed Shin Sa Great Sound to rule the country according to Dharma, but later he allowed him to rule the country in an unlawful manner. Then, Indra said: Friend, I have appointed you as the son of King Rabzho, do not rule the country in an unlawful manner! Have I not warned you that beings will fall into hell? He initially allowed Shin Sa Great Sound to rule the country according to Dharma, but later he allowed him to rule the country in an unlawful manner again. Indra said twice: Friend, I have appointed you as the son of King Rabzho, do not rule the country in an unlawful manner! Have I not warned you that beings will fall into hell?

Therefore, be sure to give alms and accumulate merit. Then the Lord of the Gods, Indra (བརྒྱ་བྱིན།, Śakra, Śakra, the Able One), commanded the son of the gods, Sarvakarma, saying, "Sarvakarma, go to the place of King Mahāghoṣa (སྒྲ་ཆེན།) and emanate a celestial cloister and a celestial stupa that is a thousand cubits high and sixty cubits wide, all made of gold and adorned with various jewels." Then the son of the gods, Sarvakarma, in the place of King Mahāghoṣa, emanated a celestial cloister and a celestial stupa that was a thousand cubits high and sixty cubits wide, all made of gold and adorned with various jewels. Then King Mahāghoṣa had a house of offerings built and placed his uncle, named Aśoka (མྱ་ངན་མེད།), in charge of the stupa. Then all the people living in Jambudvīpa (འཛམ་བུའི་གླིང་།) gathered because they were eager to see the stupa, and they ate and looked at the stupa, and did not do their work. Then the work in the fields was interrupted, so they could not collect as much as the king's taxes. The ministers offered little tax, and King Mahāghoṣa said, "Wise ones, why do you offer so little tax?" "O god, the people living in Jambudvīpa are gathered there, eating and drinking, looking at the stupa, and not doing their work, so the work in the fields has been interrupted, and therefore we cannot collect as much as the taxes." The king said, "Tear down the house of offerings." Even when they tore it down, the people still brought their own provisions to eat, contemplating the stupa, and stayed there, not doing their work, so the work in the fields was interrupted, and therefore they still could not collect as much as the king's taxes. The king asked, "Wise ones, why is the tax still so low even after tearing down the house of offerings?" The ministers said, "O god, the people bring their own provisions to eat and drink, contemplating the stupa, and stay there, not doing their work, so the work in the fields has been interrupted, and that is why the tax is so low." Then King Mahāghoṣa gave alms and accumulated merit.
