I was placed in it, and in that garden, a stupa of bones was built, adorned with necklaces and bracelets, and various other ornaments, and umbrellas, victory banners, and flags were erected. Then, at another time, the great King Good Vision, surrounded by his retinue of consorts, as the time of the sal trees arrived, the flowering trees blossomed, and swans, geese, peacocks, parrots, squirrels, cuckoos, and birds emitting beautiful sounds were in the groves of the garden, and the king went to the garden for recreation. As he wandered in the garden, he saw the stupa of the Arhat. Then, he said to the person guarding the garden, 'Hey, who is this venerable one?' The person said, 'Lord, you do not know, but the queen knows the meaning of this.' Then, he spoke to the retinue of the queen, and they knelt on both knees and said, 'O God, please grant us fearlessness.' He said, 'Thus it is granted.' They spoke in detail about the situation at that time, and the king said, 'If you are so fond of your son inheriting the kingdom, it is good that you did not ask me for this. If you had asked, I would have conferred the kingdom upon him.' However, I said that even if that great being passed into Nirvana, I would offer umbrellas, crowns, and hair knots.' Then, out of love for his son, he offered umbrellas, crowns, and hair knots to the stupa of that Pratyekabuddha. Monks, what do you think? The great King Good Vision at that time was none other than myself. Because I then, out of love for my son, offered umbrellas, crowns, and hair knots to the stupa of that Pratyekabuddha, the maturation of that karma caused me to be a Chakravartin king two thousand five hundred times. The remainder of that very karma, now that I have attained perfect enlightenment, gods and humans hold two thousand five hundred hundred-spoked umbrellas over the crown of my head. If I had not realized such a collection of qualities, otherwise I would have been a Chakravartin king two thousand five hundred times.

Let it be transformed! Therefore, whatever is the ripening of my merit, I dedicate it to the enjoyment of the Shravakas. Even if a bre of pearls could buy a bre of grain, my Shravakas would not be impoverished by alms. Bhikshus, therefore, the ripening of purely black deeds is purely black, and that is what should be sought. Bhikshus, you should train yourselves in this way, as before, until the end. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the Bhikshus rejoiced and praised the words of the Blessed One. The son of Līlāvatī, King Ajatashatru of Magadha, had a boat bridge built, and the Licchavis of Vaishali also built a boat bridge for the Blessed One. The Nagas thought: "We Nagas have bodies that are prone to falling, so let us build a suspension bridge for the Blessed One to cross the Ganges River." So they built a suspension bridge. Then the Blessed One said to the Bhikshus: "Bhikshus, whoever among you wishes to cross the Ganges River from the boat bridge of Ajatashatru, the son of Līlāvatī, King of Magadha, may cross from there. Whoever wishes to cross from the boat bridge built by the Licchavis of Vaishali may cross from there. I will cross the Ganges River with the Bhikshu Ananda from the suspension bridge of the Nagas." Then some crossed from the boat bridge of Ajatashatru, the son of Līlāvatī, King of Magadha, and some crossed from the boat bridge built by the Licchavis of Vaishali. The Blessed One also crossed from the suspension bridge of the Nagas with the Venerable Ananda. Then a lay follower spoke in verse at that time: "Some build bridges, abandon the water, and cross the ocean. People are skilled at building boats, people cross the water. The Buddha, the Blessed One, the Brahmin has crossed over and dwells on dry land. Bhikshus, here the Shravakas who bathe are boat builders. If there is water everywhere."

Then, what is the use of well water? After cutting off the root of craving, who would seek to enjoy it? The Blessed One saw a high and lofty place in another direction. Having seen it, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Ananda: Ananda, do you want to see the stupa of King Great Sound, which is a thousand yojanas high and sixty yojanas wide, made entirely of gold, adorned with various jewels, and which is thrown into the Ganges River after people give alms and do good deeds? Blessed One, the time to see it has come. Sugata, the time to see it has come. If the Blessed One could erect that stupa, the monks would be able to see it. Then, the Blessed One touched the ground with his hand, which bore the wheel, auspicious marks, swastika, net patterns, was born from countless merits, and dispelled fears. The nagas thought: Why does the Blessed One touch the ground? They thought that the Blessed One wanted to see the stupa. Then, they erected the stupa, and the monks began to look at the stupa. The Venerable Lekden, being content with little desire, went to one side and sewed his worn-out cushions. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, the stupa will disappear, remember this sign. Having said this, the stupa disappeared. The monks asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: Reverend Sir, when the monks were looking at the stupa, the Venerable Lekden, being content with little desire, went to one side and sewed his worn-out cushions. Is this for temporary detachment from desire? Or is it for the sake of past habits? If it is for temporary detachment from desire, then there are other ways to be detached from desire. If it is for the sake of past habits, then where did he used to practice? The Blessed One said: Monks, it is both for detachment from desire and for the sake of past habits. Where did he used to practice? Monks, it happened before
