Who else will experience those realms individually? Monks, those deeds that have been done and accumulated will not ripen in the external realm of earth, nor will they ripen in the realm of water, nor will they ripen in the realm of fire, nor will they ripen in the realm of wind. Thus, those virtuous and non-virtuous deeds that have been done and accumulated will ripen in the aggregates, realms, and sources that have been taken. Deeds, even through hundreds of eons, will not be wasted; when the causes and conditions are gathered, they will become fruits for sentient beings. Monks, in the past, in this very Fortunate Aeon (Bhadrakalpa), when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, a teacher, a Thus-Gone One, an Arhat, a Perfectly Awakened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a Knower of the World, a Tamer of Men, an unsurpassed being, a teacher of gods and humans, a Buddha, a Bhagavan named Light Protector (འོད་སྲུང་།), appeared in the world. He dwelt near the city of Varanasi (Bārāṇasī). Having gone forth in his teachings, he became a holder of the three baskets (Tripitaka), and acted as the steward of the Sangha according to the Dharma. Once, an Arhat was assigned as the temple caretaker. As he began to sweep the temple, the wind arose and carried the broom back and forth. He thought, "I will leave it until the wind subsides." After some time, the steward saw that the temple had not been swept and, being very angry, harshly rebuked him, saying, "You son of a prostitute, how can you be a temple caretaker?" The Arhat heard this and thought, "This person is very angry, so I will leave it for a while and talk to him later." When that person was free from anger, he went to him and said, "Do you know who I am?" He said, "I know, you and I have both gone forth in the teachings of the Perfectly Awakened Buddha Light Protector." He said, "If that is so, I have done the deeds of a renunciate, and I am liberated from all bonds, while you are bound by all bonds, and you have uttered harsh words to me, may fault be upon fault." Therefore, that karma was lessened, completely exhausted, and

It transformed. Because he confessed his sins, he was supposed to be born in hell and become the son of a female slave. But since he was not born in hell, he was born in the womb of a female slave for five hundred lifetimes, and even in his last life he was born in the womb of a female slave. Whoever makes offerings to the Sangha is born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family. Whoever reads and recites there, is skilled in the aggregates, skilled in the realms, skilled in the sources, and skilled in dependent origination, therefore goes forth in my teachings, abandons all defilements, and realizes Arhatship. Monks, therefore, the result of completely black deeds is completely black, the result of completely white deeds is completely white, and the result of mixed deeds is mixed. Monks, therefore, you should abandon completely black deeds and mixed deeds, and strive to cultivate completely white deeds. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. The setting was in Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar). At that time, the Naga kings Anthill and Mountain resided in Rajagriha. Through the power of these two, five hundred streams of ascetic water constantly flowed, and springs, lakes, and ponds never dried up. The gods sent down good rain at the right time, so the crops grew especially well. When the Blessed One tamed the Naga kings Nanda and Upananda, they would come from the terraces of Mount Sumeru every day to pay homage to the Blessed One. Then the Naga kings Anthill and Mountain thought: "Since the Naga kings Nanda and Upananda come from the terraces of Mount Sumeru every day to pay homage to the Blessed One, it is not good that we do not pay homage to the Blessed One while residing here. Rather, we should also pay homage to the Blessed One." So, the two of them went to where the Blessed One was.

Having bowed to the feet of the Bhagavan with their heads, they sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the Bhagavan taught them such Dharma. Having heard that, they went for refuge to the Buddha, and having gone for refuge to the Dharma and Sangha, they took the bases of training. When they went for refuge from the Bhagavan, and when they took the bases of training, their bodies and enjoyments increased even more. Those two went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, they bowed to the feet of the Bhagavan with their heads, and said: Bhagavan, when we went for refuge to the Bhagavan, and when we took the bases of training, our bodies and enjoyments increased even more. Bhagavan, if the Bhagavan permits, we would like to enter the great ocean. The Bhagavan said: Naga lords, since you dwell in the king's country, you should inform the king. Those two thought: Actually, the Bhagavan has not permitted us, and saying this, they stayed there. The Naga king's conduct in cities and mountains was: if he went to see the Bhagavan at night, he would be in the guise of a divine son; but if it was during the day, he would be in the guise of a householder. Those two, having made the guise of householders, served the Bhagavan every day. King Rupakaya (gzugs can snying po), who was full of the pride of the royal family, his conduct was that when he went to see the Bhagavan, he would make a great proclamation, saying that it was impossible for anyone to see me and not stand up. He sent a messenger, saying: Hey, chamberlain, go and see who is serving the Bhagavan. That one went, and seeing two householders, he thought: These two dwell in the heavenly realm, why do they not stand up? Then he said to the king: O god, there are two householders who dwell in the heavenly realm itself. King Rupakaya thought: Why do those two not stand up when they see me? I will go and see, and thinking this, he went from there towards the...
