While reciting the Pratimoksha, if monks suddenly arrive afterwards, or if the resident monks are very few, then they should also request and perform the Uposatha, and recite the Pratimoksha. The previous monks will commit a serious offense due to the dispute. For example, on the fifteenth Uposatha, if four or more resident monks gather together and are in agreement, they think like this: If there are some monks who have not arrived, without those monks who have not arrived, we can request and perform the Uposatha, and we can recite the Pratimoksha. So, those who seek meaning with discrimination and hold the tools of discrimination, request and perform the Uposatha, and recite the Pratimoksha. Afterwards, if monks suddenly arrive, or if the number of resident monks is equal, then they should also request and perform the Uposatha, and recite the Pratimoksha. The previous monks will commit a serious offense due to discrimination. Or, without those people, is it not permissible for us to request and perform the Uposatha and recite the Pratimoksha? So, those who seek meaning with doubt and hold the tools of doubt, request and perform the Uposatha, and recite the Pratimoksha.
