If it is divided, it will become a serious offense. After that, within the great boundary, permission should be given to all monks not to be separated from their robes. It should be given in this way: after arranging the dwelling place, strike the ghanta and admonish the monks with words of inquiry. When all the Sangha have gathered and are in harmony, one monk should make a request and then act. Venerable Sangha, please listen. Thus, in this place, the Sangha is in harmony and has established a great boundary with the vow of a single place of discipline. If the time of the Sangha has come and it is permissible, may the Sangha grant permission. The Sangha should do this: in order to gather the dwelling place, and in order for the monks to dwell in comfort, within the great boundary, grant permission to all monks not to be separated from their robes. This is the request. The action should be done in this way: Venerable Sangha, please listen. Thus, in this place, the Sangha is in harmony and has established a great boundary with the vow of a single place of discipline. For that reason, the Sangha should do this: in order to gather the dwelling place, and in order for the monks to dwell in comfort, within the great boundary, grant permission to all monks not to be separated from their robes. Those venerable ones who permit this, in order to gather the dwelling place, and in order for the monks to dwell in comfort, within the great boundary, grant permission to all monks not to be separated from their robes, should not speak. Those who do not permit it, should speak. The Sangha has permitted and granted permission, and the Sangha has granted permission within the great boundary to all monks not to be separated from their robes. Thus, since no one speaks, it is accepted as such. Wherever the Sangha has granted permission within the great boundary to the monks not to be separated from their robes, the monks should go there wearing their upper and lower garments, and should not regret this. The venerable attendant asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan: Venerable one, one task.

With one request and one statement of action, is it permissible to reduce and expand the boundary inside and outside the gate? It is permissible to approach and surround. Among these, reducing means to make smaller. Among these, expanding means to make larger. It should be done like this: First, the great boundary should be dissolved, and the small boundary should also be dissolved, and the mandala should be destroyed. It should be dissolved like this: After arranging the place, strike the ghanta and admonish the monks truthfully with the words of inquiry. When all the Sangha are assembled and in harmony, arrange the Sangha at the two boundaries. The monk who is doing the work should press down on the two boundaries with wood, a stick, a clod of earth, or a fence, and then make the request and perform the action. Venerable Sangha, please listen. Thus, in this place, the Sangha is in harmony, and with the precepts of the same Uposatha place, the great boundary has been marked, and the small boundary has also been marked, and it has been agreed to destroy the mandala. If the time of the Sangha has come and it is permissible, please let the Sangha permit it. The Sangha should destroy the great boundary, and should also destroy the small boundary, and should dissolve the mandala. This is the request. The action should be done like this: Venerable Sangha, please listen. Thus, in this place, the Sangha is in harmony, and with the precepts of the same Uposatha place, the great boundary has been marked, and the small boundary has also been marked, and it has been agreed to destroy the mandala. After that, if the Sangha destroys the great boundary, and also destroys the small boundary, and dissolves the mandala, then, which of the long-lived ones can endure the destruction of the great boundary, and also the destruction of the small boundary, and the dissolution of the mandala, those should not speak. Those who cannot endure it, those should speak. This is the first statement of action. Similarly, repeat it a second and a third time. After the Sangha has endured and permitted it, the Sangha has destroyed the great boundary, and has also destroyed the small boundary, and has dissolved the mandala. Thus, because there is no speaking, it is regarded as such. After that, the resident monks and the original resident monks should determine the firm signs of the four directions of the great boundary, the east being marked by a stone, or marked by a wall, or marked by a pillar.
