Because of using the land, the ripening of that karma caused them to become like ropes and like brooms. Those beings that you see that are like bowls, when the novice monks (དགེ་ཚུལ་,梵文:śrāmaṇera,梵文罗马拟音:shramanera, literal meaning: novice monk) were purifying the drinking water, when they were washing the bowls. Some monks suddenly came and they asked those novice monks: Novice monks, will the Sangha lack drinking water? Those novice monks, bound by stinginess, said: Didn't you see us washing the bowls? The water has already been drunk. They thought: It seems like the time has passed. So they became hopeless, their faces changed, they became haggard and sunken, because of the ripening of that karma, they became like bowls. Those beings that you see that are like pestles, they also became monks. There, matters concerning alms bowls occurred to them, and then a novice monk Arhat was appointed as the manager, and they said to him: Novice monk, please pound a little bit of mustard seed for us with the hand pestle. He said: Venerable ones, I am busy, please wait a moment, and I will give it to you later. They became impatient and, bound by strong attachment, said: Novice monk, if we could touch the pestle, we would put you in the pestle and pound you as well. Let alone a little bit of mustard seed. That novice monk thought: These people are bound by strong attachment, if I answer them, the quarrel will become even more intense. So he sat without saying a word, and when they were free from attachment, he went to them and said: Venerable ones, do you know who I am? They said: We know, you are a novice monk who has renounced the world in the teaching of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Kashyapa (梵文:Kāśyapa). We are also monks. Venerable ones, if that is the case, I have done what a renunciate should do. What did you do? Having abandoned all defilements, I have realized the state of Arhat. You are bound by all bonds, and I am definitely liberated from all bonds. You

Through uttering harsh words, may sins be confessed and eliminated. Thus, the karma will be lightened, completely exhausted, and ultimately ended. Although they confessed their sins, the result of that karma turned them into things like mortars. Those beings you see that resemble worms were divine servants attending to the Sangha. When they were boiling medicine, the monks spoke unpleasantly, and they, being very angry, broke those worms. As a result of that karma, they became like worms. Those beings you see with broken waists, held by water veins, were once monks with great power. Overwhelmed by stinginess, they changed what they had gained, turning summer gains into winter gains, and winter gains into summer gains. As a result of that karma, they became beings with broken waists, held by water veins. The monks became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan, who cuts off all doubts: "Venerable one, what deeds did the venerable Sangha-supporter perform, that as a result of those deeds, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, and attained Arhatship, accomplishing a great task of taming?" The Bhagavan replied: "Monks, the Sangha-supporter accumulated the karma of obtaining wealth, completely transforming the conditions, appearing as quickly as lightning, and not being devoured by demons. Monks, how could others separately experience the deeds done and accumulated by this Sangha-supporter? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated will not ripen in the external earth element, nor will they ripen in the water element, nor will they ripen in the fire element, nor will they ripen in the wind element. Thus, the good and non-good deeds done and accumulated will ripen in the aggregates, realms, and sources that are grasped. Even after hundreds of thousands of kalpas, karma will not be lost; when the conditions and time come together, they will manifest as fruits for sentient beings. Monks, in the past that has already occurred,

In this fortunate aeon, when the lifespan of beings reaches twenty thousand years, the teacher, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, knower of the world, unsurpassed charioteer of beings to be tamed, teacher of gods and humans, Buddha, the Bhagavan named Light Protector, will appear in the world. He will reside near Varanasi in the Deer Park at the hermitage of the Rishis. In that teaching, this one will renounce and become an attendant, and there will be five hundred who dwell together with him. The assembly of beings dwelling in the mountain caves will also mostly have great faith in him. Then, as long as he lives, he will practice celibacy, but will not attain any accumulation of merit. At another time, he will become ill, and although he is attended to with medicines of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, the illness will not subside, and he will become weak. At the time of his death, he will make this aspiration: "I have practiced celibacy for as long as I lived towards the Bhagavan Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, unsurpassed field of merit, Light Protector, but I have not attained any accumulation of merit. By this root of virtue of practicing celibacy for as long as I lived, may the Bhagavan Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, Light Protector, when giving a prophecy to the Brahmin boy, say: 'Brahmin boy, in the future, when the lifespan of beings reaches one hundred years, you will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, knower of the world, unsurpassed charioteer of beings to be tamed, teacher of gods and humans, Buddha, the Bhagavan Shakyamuni.' May I renounce in that teaching, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of Arhat." Then, those who dwelt with him gathered and asked: "Teacher, have you attained any accumulation of merit?" He said, "No." They asked, "What aspiration did you make?" He said, "Such and such." They said:
