I have completed the upasampadā. Then, after learning all the commonly used dharmas for two or three days, he said: A person with a good face does not think like a deer. Śrāvastī is vast, and it is both your own practice place and your father's practice place, so live by begging for alms. He said: Abbot, how should I go begging for alms? He said: Don't you even know that much? I will teach you. Saying this, he tied his skirt with thread, sewed the Dharma robe with thorns and put it on him, placed the alms bowl on his left arm, and hung the clapper on his right arm. After that, when he entered the practice place in Śrāvastī, a woman beat her chest and said: Holy one, who cut off your two hands of ordination? He said: Sister, my hands were cut off when I was a householder, not after I became a monk. Who ordained you? He said: It was Abbot Nanda. They said: Who else but that wicked practitioner would ordain someone like this? At that time, the monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought: Whatever faults arise are caused by the monks ordaining people with severed hands. Then he taught: Monks, therefore, a monk should not ordain or give upasampadā to a person with severed hands. If they ordain or give upasampadā, they will commit a serious offense. Just like a severed hand, the same applies to a severed foot, deformed fingers, no lips, scars on the body, and people who are too old. Monks, if you ordain people who are too young, they will defile the monastery with their urine and feces. The Blessed One taught: They should not be ordained either. If you ordain cripples, the Blessed One taught: They should not be ordained either. Prostitutes, blind people, people with deformed fingers, hunchbacks, dwarfs, eunuchs, mutes, deaf people, hermaphrodites, and people with foot ulcers are ordained, the Blessed One taught:

They should not be ordained. If they are ordained, it becomes a serious offense. Monks, if someone is troubled by a woman, troubled by a burden, troubled by the road, is lame, or is in debt, if they are ordained, the Blessed One has declared: They should not be ordained. If they are ordained, it becomes a serious offense. This is the time for summarizing. The basis for ordination is complete. Explaining the basis for ordination.
