At that time, the monks asked the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Monks, the Dharma-speaking monk is the very emanation. If the group of six monks had not become like that, then until the end of the teachings, they would make offerings to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. The Blessed One thought: Whatever faults have occurred, it is because the monks taught the Dharma without being asked. Therefore, he said: Therefore, monks should not teach the Dharma without being asked. If a monk teaches the Dharma without being asked, he will commit a serious offense. If he is invited as a guest, there is no downfall. In Shravasti, there was a wealthy householder named Sangye Tso, who had a lot of property and enjoyed great wealth. He married a wife of equal status and played, rejoiced, and enjoyed pleasure with her. The Venerable Shariputra, considering that he should be tamed, went to his house. He placed the householder and his wife in refuge and established them in the precepts. After some time, the householder's wife became pregnant. The Venerable Shariputra, knowing that this being must be fortunate, went to his house alone without a following monk. The householder prostrated at his feet and said: Venerable, do you not have a following monk? He said: Householder, do my following monks come from the roots of kusha grass or the roots of kusha grass? Those who are obtained from people like you will become my following monks. The householder Sangye Tso said: Venerable, my wife is pregnant. If she gives birth to a boy, I will offer him to the Venerable as a following monk. He said: Householder, that is a method. After eight or nine months, a boy was born, with a beautiful appearance, pleasing, beautiful, bright, golden in color, with a head like an umbrella, long arms, a wide forehead, and eyebrows.

Once upon a time, a child with a high nose bridge was born. After the birth, his relatives gathered and celebrated his birth on the twenty-first day with a grand celebration, and they were about to name the child. Others said, "This child is the son of Sangye Tso, so the child's name should be Gedun Tso." Therefore, he was named Gedun Tso. They nourished the child Gedun Tso with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, the essence of butter, and other various essential foods. He was raised and nurtured, growing rapidly like a lotus in a pond. On the very day that Gedun Tso was born, the sons of five hundred merchants were also born. They were also given names that matched their lineage. When the boy Gedun Tso grew up, the venerable Shariputra, knowing the time for his taming, went to his house alone without any attendant monks, as he needed to be tamed. The householder Sangye Tso prostrated at his feet and offered him a seat, and the venerable Shariputra sat down. After sitting, he began to communicate with the householder Sangye Tso. Then, the householder Sangye Tso said to Gedun Tso, "Son, from the time you were in your mother's womb and not yet born, I have offered you to the venerable Shariputra as an attendant monk. Go and serve and honor him." Because he was a last sentient being, he smiled first, without fear, without change of expression, and without humility, he promised, "I will do so." Then, he followed the venerable Shariputra. After that, the venerable Shariputra ordained him and gave him full ordination, taught him all the codes of conduct, and had him read the four Vinayas. After some time, the five hundred sons of the merchants consulted each other, prepared to go to the great ocean for trade, and then they set off to the great ocean. They thought, "The wise say that the great ocean is full of various dangers, so we should
