That monk took alms and returned. After some time, that monk suddenly found some food, and he took it and returned. When he heard a sound like a blacksmith blowing bellows in the dwelling, he looked out from a hole in the wall and saw that the entire dwelling was filled with the body of a dragon coiled up, and he made a sound, saying, "Transformation, transformation!" Because he was skilled in sound, he immediately awoke and hid his natural form, existing in the form of a transformation. The monks came and they said to him, "What is this?" He said, "It is a transformation." They said, "O Venerable One, if you are diligent in practice and always diligent in recitation, why are you stingy with this?" He said, "I am not at all stingy with this, but this is a transformation!" As they were talking to each other, the Blessed One also went in that direction. The Blessed One asked, "What is this?" The monks replied, "Blessed One, it is a transformation." The Blessed One said, "Monks, a person who is a transformation is not of the nature to be born in this Dharma-Vinaya, so monks, you should expel a person who is a transformation from this Dharma-Vinaya. If someone comes to you wanting to be ordained, you should ask him if he is a transformation or not. If you ordain him without asking, it will be a serious offense. Monks, these five are the nature of dragons, and the rest are transformations. Which five? To be born by nature, to die by nature, to sleep by nature, to eat by nature, and to engage in non-celibate conduct, practicing the Dharma of sexual intercourse." The Blessed One said to him, "Fair-faced one, you cannot obtain any accumulation of merit through these aggregates, monks, go away, do not obstruct the path." He thought, "What should I do?" So he went to a Sal tree monastery, where there was a tall temple with skylights and latticed windows, decorated with railings, pleasing to the heart and eyes, like a staircase to heaven, with beds and

He conjured up a throne and a wealth of implements, and he assisted the monks who came suddenly and those who were about to leave with all kinds of implements. An old practitioner went from the summer retreat of that monastery to Shravasti. The usual practice of the Six Groups was: "Here, we shall also teach the Dharma to the Brahmins and householders who come and arrive. We shall also subdue the opponents. We shall also proclaim our own fame." Thinking thus, none of the Six Groups would leave the gate of Jeta Grove empty, so Nanda got up before dawn, threw away his tooth-stick, put on a reddish-yellow robe, and walked and sat at the gate of Jeta Grove. From afar, he saw an old practitioner coming, his head white like a flower of grass, his eyebrows drooping, and he thought: "This must be some elder monk," so he went to greet him, saying: "Elder, welcome! Welcome!" And the old practitioner said: "Teacher, I prostrate to you!" Nanda thought: "Alas, this is an old practitioner who does not even know the teacher, nor does he know the preceptor." So he said to him: "Old practitioner, where do you come from?" "From the Sala monastery." "Is there a monastery there?" He said: "There is a monastery." "Is that a monastery? Or is it a poorhouse?" "What is a monastery like? What is a poorhouse like?" "A place where all implements are available is a monastery, and a place where all implements are lacking is a poorhouse." "That is a monastery." "What is there?" "There dwells a serving monk who assists the monks who come suddenly and those who are about to leave with all kinds of implements." The usual practice of the Six Groups was that whatever they heard, they would gather together at breakfast time and tell each other, so Nanda went to the monastery and said to the Six Groups: "Venerable ones, how long should we abandon busyness? Have you heard anything?" Nanda said: "Yes, there is a monastery in the Sala monastery." "What is there?" "There dwells a servant who uses

Striving with all means. Come, let us go there. When they arrived there, he saw them coming from afar and thought: Those who engage in evil deeds everywhere have come here. He thought again: If I entertain them with all kinds of things, what can they do to me? So, in the manner of an elder, he arranged lodgings and multi-storied buildings for them, and entertained them with all kinds of things. After they had stayed for a few days, they said: Happy one, near-joyful one, this elder neither seems to gather (the sangha) nor to settle (the sangha), let us have him count. So they said to him: Elder, you neither seem to gather (the sangha) nor to settle (the sangha), come and count. He said: Holy ones, have you declined a little or become disunited? They said: Not at all have we declined, when the ব্রহ্মচারী (brahmacārī,梵文天城體,brahmacari,梵行者) reside in the same monastery, they neither know how to gather nor how to settle, we will be blamed. 02A He said: Venerable ones, if that is so, then let it be done. How long? Twelve years? They said: Elder, in twelve years you will even eat the threshold of this monastery. He said: Seven years? They said: No. He said: Seven months? They said: No. He said: Seven days? They said: Happy one, near-joyful one, what can this elder eat in seven days? Let it be so. They said to him: Elder, let it be so. He thought: After seven days this monastery will disappear. So, from then on, to those ব্রহ্মচারী (brahmacārī,梵文天城體,brahmacari,梵行者), some, some, some offered robes, some, some, some offered upper garments, some, some, some offered lower garments, some, some, some offered dusters, some, some, some offered bowls, some, some, some offered small bowls. When the six groups of monks saw this, they said: Happy one, near-joyful one, this elder is seeking an opportunity, after seven days he will destroy (the monastery) from the root along with the direction. After he had also passed seven days, he
