The Buddhas, the Lords, do not show a sudden smile. They show a smile for the sake of stability. The assemblies of beings should listen to this. The Blessed One said: Kungawo (Ananda), it is so, it is so. Kungawo (Ananda), the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas do not smile without cause or condition. Kungawo (Ananda), in this very place, many wicked ones have harassed many nuns with bodily actions. Having died from here, they will be born into the hells of sentient beings. Then, a monk went to where the Blessed One was, folded his palms and bowed, and said to the Blessed One: Venerable, among those wicked ones who have harassed many nuns with bodily actions, one is me. Foolish one, have you also harassed many nuns with bodily actions? Venerable, I have also harassed many nuns with bodily actions. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, whoever has harassed a nun, in this Dharma and Vinaya, there is no law of rebirth, so monks, you should expel from this Dharma and Vinaya whoever has harassed a nun. If someone who wants to be ordained comes here, he should be asked if he has harassed a nun. If he is ordained without being asked, he will commit a serious offense. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti. In Shravasti, a householder came to Jeta Grove. Monks, if greed is not abandoned, one commits a Sanghavasesa offense. Some commit offenses in their youth and repent in old age; others repent in old age. When they hear it from the monks who hold the Sutras, hold the Vinaya, and hold the Matrikas, then they confess according to the Dharma. When they practice moving and rejoicing, they are respectful to the Sangha.
