Thus it is established in the words of "that" and "certainty." [Vinaya-kṣudraka, Volume 2] At the village carpenter's, a Brahmin priest named Nau-dhara was wealthy, with much property and great enjoyment. He was fully possessed, vast and extensive, endowed with the wealth of Vaiśravaṇa, and rivaled Vaiśravaṇa in wealth. He took a wife from the same lineage and played with her, rejoiced, and indulged in pleasure. He played, rejoiced, and indulged in pleasure, but he had neither son nor daughter. Because he was childless and desired a son, he prayed to Śiva, the water deity, the evil-bodied one, Indra, Brahmā, and so on. He also prayed to other specific deities, such as the deities of the Kuṇḍa-ārāma gardens, the deities of the groves, the deities of the crossroads, the deities of the triple crossroads, the deities who receive offerings, the co-born deities, the deities who are in accordance with the Dharma, and the deities who always follow. In the world, there is such a saying that sons and daughters are born from the cause of prayer. But that is not the case. If it were so, then each person would have a thousand sons, like a universal monarch. In this way, sons and daughters are born only when these three conditions manifest. What are these three? The union and coming together of the father and mother, the mother being in season and having menstruation, and a Gandharva being near and desiring to enter. Sons and daughters are born only when these three conditions manifest. While he was so diligently engaged in prayer, a sentient being seeking the last existence, grasping the essence of liberation, tending towards Nirvana, turning away from samsara, not seeking death and birth in all realms of existence, holding the last body, also died from an excellent heavenly realm and entered the womb of the mistress of that household. A woman of wise nature has five unmixed qualities. What are the five? Knowing whether a man has engaged in intercourse, knowing whether he is free from desire, knowing the time, and knowing menstruation.

Knowing that conception has occurred, and knowing from where conception has occurred, and knowing whether it is a boy or a girl: if it is a boy, he relies and dwells on the right side; if it is a girl, she relies and dwells on the left side. That person rejoices, exceedingly rejoices, and says to the family: 'The king's son, a sentient being has entered my body, just like this, I rely and dwell on the right side, it will surely become a boy, please generate joy.' That person also rejoices, exceedingly rejoices, straightens his upper body, extends his right hand, and says this: 'I have long manifested the desire to see the face of a son, and may he be born in accordance with me, and not be born in discordance with me, and may he do my deeds, and after being raised, raise me in return, and enjoy my wealth, and make my family lineage last long, and for those of us who have died and whose time has come, whether few or many, may he give alms and do meritorious deeds, and may these two, wherever they are born, follow after them.' He pre-designates with a name, specifically says, specifically narrates. Knowing that a sentient being has entered the womb, it is like this: in order to fully ripen the fetus, on the base of the upper pavilion, when it is cold, there are cold utensils, and when it is warm, there are warm utensils, and food with a doctor's care, neither too bitter, nor too sour, neither too salty, nor too sweet, neither too spicy, nor too astringent, food that is far from bitter, sour, salty, sweet, spicy, and astringent tastes, as well as necklaces, semodos, and a body covered with ornaments, like a celestial maiden playing in a joyful garden, moving from bed to bed, from small bed to small bed, without letting the feet touch the ground, and without hearing any unpleasant sounds, he is made to receive service without any harm. After eight or nine months have passed, that person gives birth to a handsome boy, lovely to look at, beautiful, bright, like the color of gold, with a head like an umbrella, long arms, wide fingers, curved eyebrows, and a high nose. After birth, his relatives
