Such as completeness and prosperity, one will obtain excellent merit. The collection of offerings has been explained. Now, the method of discerning demons will be explained. First, the time when demons arise: "During mantras and meditation." This means that because it is the time of practice, at other times they will arise from listening and thinking. What are demons? "They exist externally and internally." As previously stated, and all other demons besides, are included in these two. What are they? It is the meaning of "existing externally and internally." The external distinctions are explained: "Forms are white, red, etc." This also includes yellow, green, and blue. If there are no correct signs and distinctions, then "the clear light is the Buddha." This means that what becomes clear to things is the light of the Buddha, and the opposite is the opposite. This also applies to things, just as it is said in the Prajnaparamita that the light of the gods becomes dim, etc. The distinctions of the demons of sound are explained: "Without self-nature, questions are inferior." This means that it is not possible to show the true nature as it is. Behavior is behavior that arises from characteristics, and for things that are not of that kind, but mainly show that kind, this should be considered a demon. The distinctions of the demons of form are explained: "Show little to the many kinds." This means that for things that are suitable for many, they show little form, and cherish little, and vice versa. The others are easy to understand. There are two methods of internal demons, which arise from within. What are they? "Gathering arises and thoughts change." This means that the samadhi of these two dharmas will be distracted, and will become an obstacle to attaining accomplishment. First, it is explained: "Those that gather wind, bile, and phlegm, creating something from nothing is also a demon." This means that during mantras and meditation, even if there are no discordant factors, the disturbance of samadhi by wind, etc., is also a demon. What is explained later is that the excellent ones are the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and refuting these is to hold discordant views. "Always distrustful of thinking." This means that for meditation, there is no fault or no acceptance.

One should observe. The ordinary ones are the inferior forms and so on. Attachment to them is clinging. Anger is mental disturbance. Holding grudges is holding knots. Concealing is not admitting the occurrence of faults. Harsh speech is scolding with rude words. Afflictions are desire, anger, pride, ignorance, views, and doubt. Near afflictions are attachment and so on, except for those that abide in one's own continuum. Rolling the eyes is looking upwards repeatedly. Frivolity is a light mind. Promiscuity is engaging in improper conduct. Discouragement is not considering it to be accomplishment. Distraction is the mind scattering to various objects, abiding as before. When meditation is scattered, the object becomes unclear, which is sudden sinking. Displeasure is the mind not abiding in the object. Taking delight in wrong paths is having faith in non-Buddhists, wild mantra practitioners, and the union mantras of men and women. Regarding food and drink, wanting the previous portion to a great extent is generating discrimination towards food and wanting it quickly after transcending non-discrimination. Delighting in the conventional is greatly engaging in conventional behavior, which becomes a demon in the context of the ultimate truth. In particular, in mudra, generating afflictions towards one's own lineage is generating hatred, attachment, and delusion towards the mudra woman who generates one's own wisdom. If one obtains mastery over wisdom and primordial awareness, the fault becomes greater. 'Wrong' and so on are easy to understand. These are also blessed in body and mind by demons, and then they become like that; otherwise, they are not. The causes of demons are also not believing in the Dharma and so on, and the power of afflictions and near afflictions, breaking the vows of the lama and so on, arising from things to be abandoned and unexamined substances; otherwise, they are not. If they also arise from others, then because at all times, it and the nature of not being happiness do not exist as distinct, if it becomes completely non-existent, then it is explained that it does not exist. Thus, the examination of the deception of demons has been explained. Now, the true signs are to be explained, those that are other than the signs of demons. The true signs should be declared. Where it becomes a sign
