Also, the meditation of combining bindus etc. at the heart center etc., is called life exertion because it prevents the outflow of life. In particular, by the power of such meditation, the movement of rasanā and lalanā etc. is prevented, and the movement of life-air in the central channel becomes extremely prevalent. In this way, it is also called life exertion. Then, in the heart center, meditate on the single syllable Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) without the sun and mandala, and through the way of completely entering life into its bindu, if the practice of grasping and holding is combined with life exertion, then solely for that reason, one abides in emptiness alone. From becoming the nature of all Buddhas, the peaceful, having manifest objects, merely awareness, the precious mind equal to space, in the clear light, whatever life-air becomes stable, that is holding. This is only a slight representation, that is, the combination of the āli and kāli of prāṇa located at the root of the navel chakra, or the combination of bindus meditated on the tip of the vajra, or any combination of fierce fire etc., or the order just mentioned, whatever life-air becomes stable, that is also holding. At the end of this holding, without interruption, the five signs like mirage, smoke, firefly, lamp, cloudless sky will be seen. Then, together with life exertion, by the very nature of clear light, when the mind becomes stable, by the power of completely distinguishing with aspiration, first the recollection arises for the deity meditated upon, for that also from the subtle combination of the āli and kāli etc. meditated upon, the rays of light emitted by the practitioner, this is recollection. Together with that light, each pore of hair emits the nature of the aggregates, elements, and sources etc. of the deity, this is called recollection, it is intentional. Similarly, as it is said in the Glorious Guhyasamāja Tantra: The stable jewel emits, the unstable does not emit, the supreme clouds emit, the Buddha wisdom equal light. Thus it is said. Then, transforming the nature of all things, such as aggregates, elements, and sources etc., which are naturally emitted, into the nature of light, the deities of nature, the rays of light also from the mentioned combinations, becoming different continuums,

Due to different methods of practice, any subtle yoga that is practiced is gathered in a revolving manner into the nature of emptiness and compassion being inseparable, and the arising of self-aware wisdom in an instant is samadhi. This alone is the teaching that arises from other tantras and the order of transmission. That which is called the body of the nature of wisdom from luminosity is also said by some to be samadhi. It is also said in the later tantra of the glorious Guhyasamaja: 'Of the ten powers and faculties, the most excellent dwelling place is where each is gathered separately, thus it is said, the gathering of desires is each different. By gathering the five desires, the five Buddhas are well connected, observation is said to be right thought, right thought transforms into five kinds: conceptualization and the most extreme view, joy and likewise bliss, and one-pointedness of mind and these, these five gather right thought. In all the secret tantric bodies, various forms are extremely clear, the arising of the three secrets is thought, the most extreme observation is its enjoyment, the third is mental joy, the fourth is held by bliss. The fifth consciousness should be known, the arising and cessation of knowledge and the knowable, all the Buddhas are peaceful in nature, all abide separately in desire, the nature of the five wisdoms is breath, the essence of the five elements, descending in a revolving manner, observe well at the tip of the nose. Possessing five colors, greatly precious, life-exertion is the ability to remember, having contemplated one's own mantra in the heart, life is placed as transformed into a bindu. One's own power is precious, preventing it, the grasper and the grasped are thus said. The vajra of prevention dwells in the mind, the signs arise and greatly increase, its signs are also five, arising from the bodhi vajra. First, like the form of a mirage, second, like the form of smoke, third, like a firefly, fourth, like a lamp illuminating, fifth, constantly illuminating, like a cloudless sky. Because of the stable vajra path, it is scattered in the realm of space, whatever is recollected after practice, its form is also scattered. Recollection should be known as such, in it, extreme clarity arises, because of the equality of wisdom and means, everything.'
