Sharadvatiputra, such is the compassion that arises in me for all sentient beings: for the sake of one sentient being, I would experience the suffering of sentient beings in hell for a kalpa or more than a kalpa, and I would never abandon this one sentient being. Sharadvatiputra, such is the great compassion of the Tathagata. Sharadvatiputra, for example, a person has a single son who is handsome, beautiful, pleasing to look at, of good complexion, prosperous, and endowed with excellent qualities. If he encounters some cause and faces death, that person suffers and is displeased in his heart because of thinking of his son, weeping and lamenting. Sharadvatiputra, similarly, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, also regards suffering sentient beings as if they were his only son. The Tathagatas do not dwell together with afflictions. Sharadvatiputra, for example, the great ocean does not dwell together with a dead body. Sharadvatiputra, similarly, the Tathagatas also do not dwell together with afflictions. Sharadvatiputra, for example, a magician or a clever student of a magician conjures up a large crowd of people at a crossroads on a major road. Although they show various activities, those activities do not exist in the place, nor do they exist in the direction. They are neither born nor cease, nor will they perish. Sharadvatiputra, similarly, the Tathagatas also bring sentient beings to complete maturity and also show the behavior of desire. Although they show actions, those actions do not exist. For example, the realm of space has no conceptualization and no elaboration. Similarly, the body of the Tathagata also has no conceptualization and no elaboration. However, in order to be in harmony with sentient beings, the Tathagatas also act in accordance with them. How the Tathagatas tame sentient beings, so do the Tathagatas enter in accordance with them. Sharadvatiputra, the Tathagata has no confusion, the Tathagata has no unknowing, the Tathagata has no forgetfulness. Sharadvatiputra, I, together with the gods,

It is the refuge of support, the lord, the excellent, the supreme, the श्रेष्ठ (Sanskrit Devanagari: śreṣṭha, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: shreshtha, Chinese literal meaning: श्रेष्ठ), the teacher, the unsurpassed, the incomparable, the unequal, and the equal. The words spoken by the son of Sharadvati are in accordance with the truth. Whether ordained or householder, any sentient beings who abandon this category of Dharma, all of them will obtain suffering like that of sentient beings in hell. Then, the venerable Subhuti, having heard this teaching of the Blessed One, joined his palms and said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, those sentient beings have indeed obtained a wrong attainment! What kind of tongue will those who abandon this category of Dharma have? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, their tongues will become one hundred thousand yojanas, and upon them, burning iron plows, blazing intensely, burning everywhere, spreading and burning everywhere, a single flame, will be plowed by five hundred kotis of iron plows. Why is that? Because they did not guard their speech. Subhuti, the karmic obscurations of those who are not foolish will be like that. Then, by the power of the Buddha, all the assembled retinue exclaimed in unison: The teachings of the Tathagata are truly wonderful! Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I will honor those Dharma-speaking monks on my shoulders. I will make offerings with flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, and unguents. I will offer umbrellas three times and praise three times. I will attend to them with reverence, respect them, regard them as teachers, draw their images, make offerings to them, remember them, pray to them, respect them, regard them as teachers, and protect them with reverence. Why is that? Because they are the sons of the Blessed One, and they are certainly born from the Dharmakaya. Blessed One, for example, a king's son, born from the Kshatriya caste, who has become a prince from being consecrated with empowerment from the crown of his head, handsome in appearance, beautiful, and pleasing to behold, he is worthy of the offerings of all subordinates.

I am worthy of prostration. Likewise, those who preach the Dharma are also worthy of offerings and prostration in the world with gods. Then, the Bhagavan said to the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra: 'Son of good family, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, spoke these words well in order to make those Dharma-speaking monks smaller than his own heart, and to fully protect, fully guard, and save them.' The Bodhisattva Samantabhadra replied: 'Bhagavan, I will also fully protect those sons or daughters of good family, fully save (pa pa, pa), fully embrace, and make them peaceful and happy. I will fully protect them within a hundred yojanas all around.' Then, the Bhagavan said to the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra: 'Son of good family, it is good, good that you have spoken these words well!' Then, the Bhagavan spoke this verse in the voice of Brahma: 'The accumulator who benefits and brings happiness to others, with various beautiful forms, the best with words, extremely stainless with a beautiful face, your thought is supreme, virtues are precious and incomparable, well spoken is the equal verse.' Then, the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra said to the Bhagavan: 'Bhagavan, with how many Dharmas do Bodhisattva Mahasattvas obtain the Jewel Heap Dharani?' The Bhagavan said: 'Son of good family, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas obtain the Jewel Heap Dharani with one Dharma.' What is that one Dharma? It is: having no anger towards all sentient beings. Samantabhadra, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas have two Dharmas, what are the two? They are: having no jealousy and no arrogance. Samantabhadra, these are the two Dharmas of Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Samantabhadra, furthermore, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas will not harm the senses of all sentient beings. Son of good family, furthermore, Bodhisattvas will not harm all sentient beings in any way.'
