See in two ways. Just as there is the mundane and the transcendent, clinging to self is samsara. If one knows them separately, that is it itself. Also, in the Sutra of the Play of Avalokiteśvara, it says: On the great road, like kings and beggars and all who travel, from the great road of the mind, all sentient beings and Buddhas travel from that great road. Therefore, yogis should diligently work on the path of the mind. Also, in the Ganga Mala, it says: For example, if one tree is cut down, a hundred thousand branches wither. Similarly, if the root of the mind is cut, the leaves of samsara wither. Also, as Orgyen Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) said: Now, the appearance of the mind is clear, but this, which has not been established as a name, its beginning, middle, and end, its place of arising, dwelling, and going, should be examined. First, from where does it arise, and how does it arise? Its form, color, characteristics, dwelling place, reality, and nature should be well determined and repeatedly observed. If you are attached to emptiness, you should be even more diligent. Then, where it dwells in the middle and where it ultimately goes should be well examined, and it is very important to make it look at its own nature. Thus it is said. The meaning of these is stated in the Vajra words: Whatever you think, think it; whatever you remember, remember it; whatever you see, see it; whatever you know, know it, and look at its face. Also, as explained by the Great Compassionate One: Whatever you think, think it; whatever you remember, remember it; whatever you see, see it; whatever you know, know it, and look at its face. This is the meaning of what was said. Therefore, from now until the Dharma session tomorrow, it is very important for each of you to carefully search for your own mind. Is your mind inside the body or outside? If it is inside, then in which of the five organs and six viscera, from the brain in the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, does the mind dwell? Think and search. If you think that the mind is inside the heart, is the mind on the pericardium, or in the fat, muscle, and blood of the heart? If it is outside the body, where is the mind, in the upper, lower, front, or back part of the body? Moreover, if it is outside, where is the mind, in the east, south, west, north, above, or below? What color is the mind, white, yellow, red, green, blue, etc.? What shape is the mind, round, square, crescent, triangular, etc.? Is the mind's appearance beautiful or not, how big or small is it?

Does it exist? What is the sound of that mind, pleasant or unpleasant? What is the smell of that mind, fragrant or foul? What is the taste of that mind, bitter or sweet? What is the touch of that mind, soft or rough? What is the nature of that mind? Are the body and mind one or separate? If the body and mind are one, does the mind die when the body dies? If they are separate, why is the mind uncomfortable when the body is sick? If you think there is no mind, who is it that generates hatred, arrogance, jealousy, anger, faith, and pure appearances? If you think there is a mind, what is its substance? If you think it is both existent and nonexistent, it is impossible because existence and nonexistence are contradictory. Where does this mind come from in the beginning? Where is it now? Where does it go and cease in the end? Is the "I" that you all speak of the body? Is it the mind? If it is the body, the body will scatter when it dies, so does the "I" and the "self" disappear after death? If that mind is the one that says "I" or "self," then the mind must have a shape and color. Without that, there is no meaning in saying "I" or "self." Your name is given by your parents and teachers. If the name changes, do the "I" and "self" also change? Is that mind one or many? If it is one, then what are the eight consciousnesses, such as eye consciousness? If there are many minds, it is impossible for one person to have many minds. Is the mind a single, permanent, and unchanging entity? If so, if the mind is only one, why does it remember so much and change? If the mind is impermanent, and it arises and decays, does the mind become impermanent and disappear? If the mind is a single appearance, it should be visible and demonstrable. If the mind is invisible, nothing can arise. If the mind arises, from where does it arise? If the mind abides, on what basis does it abide? If the mind If it ceases, where does it cease? If you think that the mind is such that it thinks what it should not think and scatters what it should not scatter, where did the mind's thoughts come from in the beginning? What is its nature now? Where does it go and appear to cease in the end? If you think that the mind is empty, like the sky, how can various thoughts arise in emptiness? Now, let that mind go to the eastern sky, is there anyone who goes? Or not? If there is, what is the one who goes like? If it goes, how far does it go? And back?
