Dancing, playing, and singing, as well as music, should not be done; various words of speech should not be done near where one is listening. After bowing, rise from the seat, and sit with respect. In the paths of night, water, fear, etc., after hearing the instructions, go forward. In front of the Khenpo (teacher) who is seen, a wise person should not twist the body, should not lean on pillars, etc., should not count with fingers, and for crows and owls, etc., one should cover the mouth with the hand. Washing feet and washing the body, as well as massaging, etc., should be done with the hand first; likewise, in the end, one should do as one pleases. If reciting his name, one should add "Venerable" after the name. In order to respect others, one should speak special words. For the guru's words, especially say "I will act according to the instructions," join palms and without distraction, listen to the guru's instructions. After the matter is finished, one should report with gentle words. Sit in front with tamed demeanor, and the manner of clothing, etc., should be dignified; kneeling with palms joined, with the intention of wanting to listen, etc., request three times. For all acts of service, one should not have pride in the mind. With shame, fear, and restraint, abide like a new bride. All acts of coquetry, etc., should be abandoned in front of the teacher. Other actions like these, examine oneself and abandon them. Consecration, mandala, fire puja, as well as gathering disciples and teaching, when the guru is dwelling in that place, do not do them without permission. Whatever is obtained, such as eye-opening, offer all of that to the guru. After receiving the teachings from this, act as one pleases towards others. The guru's disciple should also not become a disciple, and not in front of the disciple and the guru, avoid service and rising, as well as acts of prostration, etc. Whatever is offered to the Khenpo, and whatever is given by the guru, bowing to that, with both hands, offer and receive with wisdom. With the wisdom of unfailing memory, with the eyes surpassing one's own actions, avoid each other with joy. For matters of sickness and the guru, after bowing, follow the permission, even if forbidden things are done, for those with good intentions, it will not become a sin. Thus it is said. So then, if one does not understand the many ways of relying on a guru, what should one do? In that very text it says: What else is there to say here? Pleasing the guru.

Whoever you may be, abandon all that displeases (the Guru), and generate diligence in this and that (which pleases the Guru). It is said that those who follow the accomplished master are Vajradhara himself. Knowing this, with all things, make the Guru completely happy. Thus it is said. Therefore, since the root of secret mantra is the Guru, it is crucial to have faith, respect, and one-pointedness. By constantly practicing the Guru Yoga in four sessions, realization naturally arises spontaneously. This is the experience of all accomplished siddhas and vidyadharas, the secret words of the dakinis, and the intention of all tantras. Therefore, Guru Yoga must be made the core of one's practice. Moreover, in these degenerate times, it is difficult to find a Guru who is without faults and complete with qualities. If one prays to a Guru who possesses both faults and qualities, it is like a carved bowl, whatever is in it will show. Both the faults and qualities of the Guru will appear, which is not acceptable. If one visualizes the essence as the Guru and the form as the body of the Buddha, then all qualities will be absorbed and faults will not be absorbed. This is the key instruction. Furthermore, if one desires to generate realization, then visualize the Guru as Samantabhadra or Vajradhara. If one desires the three trainings to be pure and to benefit the teachings, then visualize the Guru as Shakyamuni Buddha. If one desires great wisdom, then visualize Manjushri. If one desires to accomplish great benefit for beings, then visualize the Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara. If one desires great power and strength, then visualize Vajrapani. If one desires to purify karmic obscurations, then visualize Akshobhya. If one desires great enjoyment, then visualize Ratnasambhava. If one desires long life, then visualize Amitayus. If one desires to pacify illness, then visualize the Medicine Buddha, etc. Visualize and pray according to one's preference, and all that one desires will be accomplished. Thus it is said. Moreover, if one desires to quickly obtain the lineage of all blessings and accomplishments, then practicing the Guru Rinpoche of Oddiyana is profound. Guru Rinpoche himself said: Especially if you desire blessings and accomplishments quickly, then practice the Vajra Dragtsal Padmasambhava, who is myself. The qualities of the Buddhas of the three times are complete in me. The blessings and accomplishments of the peaceful and wrathful deities, the inner and outer secret mantras, and the heroes and dakinis, like a wish-fulfilling jewel that possesses all qualities, all of them are completely fulfilled in me without exception. Just by practicing and remembering me, the Buddhas and their sons will look upon them with compassion. All the deities of the inner and outer secret mantra mandalas will bestow empowerment, blessings, and accomplishments. All the mamos and dakinis will gather like clouds, obeying
