From the Tantra of the Condensed Samvara, it is said: "For sentient beings with diverse inclinations, he demonstrates various conducts; for disciples of various dispositions, he reveals various methods. When teaching the profound Dharma, even if faith does not arise, one should not criticize it; remember that the nature of Dharma is inconceivable." As it is said, one should not criticize. In the latter part of the Tantra of Manifest Enlightenment of Vairocana, it says: "My mind is not yet stable, and I mistakenly say: 'These are not the words of the Buddha, but were made by self-proclaimed authors.'" Lord of Secrets! It should be known that those foolish people will go to two lower realms. Which two? Sentient beings in hell and animals. Also, in the Root Tantra of Manjushri, it says: "Whoever abandons this supreme Dharma, this treasure of Dharma worshiped by the Buddhas, that person will go to the Avici hell." Also, in the Extensive Mother Sutra, it says: "The result of abandoning the Dharma is to wander endlessly in the lower realms," extensively explaining the situation, which should be kept in mind. Guard your speech, each of you guard yourselves, and do not cast yourselves into the lower realms; this is of utmost importance. Therefore, this Dharma is extremely profound and distinguished by many wonders. It is the immaculate speech of the Great Compassionate One himself, clear and explicit, without the impurities of whispered instructions. The lineage has not been broken or decayed, it is a close lineage, the breath of the dakinis has not faded, it is a Dharma that is intended for the present time, so the blessings and benefits are particularly extraordinary. Being able to receive such teachings is due to accumulating merit in past lives and pure aspirations. Therefore, generate unwavering faith and devotion. The above is the historical sequence of the Great Perfection instruction called "Buddha's Handprint," which is the first Dharma session. Therefore, the meditation for tomorrow is: Having encountered such a blessed lineage, and being able to receive the profound Dharma, the Great Perfection instruction at the pinnacle of the nine vehicles, think, "I am fortunate enough." Generate unwavering faith and devotion to the lama and the Dharma, and recite the Vajra Guru (藏文:བཛྲ་གུ་རུ་,梵文天城体:वज्रगुरु,梵文罗马拟音:vajraguru,汉语字面意思:金刚上师) and the six-syllable mantra in the manner of supplication. Those of you who are knowledgeable should also recite the Seven Chapter Prayer and other prayers to Orgyen Rinpoche. Now, we will begin the Great Perfec

O guide of Napa! What are the characteristics of the teacher who teaches as the Lama? To whom is it taught, what are the characteristics of the disciple? How to rely on the Lama? Where is the teaching, what are the characteristics of the place? The characteristics of time? The benefits of teaching? The faults of slandering it? The benefits of hearing? How to listen? Conduct? Equipment? How to teach the actual method of guidance? Subsequent actions and six sections, the first of which is the reason why the relationship between the Lama and the disciple must be examined: In the 'Lama Fifty Laws': The Lama and the disciple, similarly, the vows are broken, the hero must first examine the relationship between the teacher and the disciple. Therefore, if the Lama is not examined, what is done will become meaningless, so it must be examined. However, the examination is not to find fault with the Lama, but to examine whether it can become the ultimate refuge for one's lifetimes. As it says in the 'Net of Illusion Tantra': For a while, the first accomplishment is to follow the teacher, and if there is no teacher, accomplishment will not be attained, so the characteristics of the teacher should be explained. And, Orgyen Rinpoche said: If the Lama is not examined, there will be the fault of a wrong path. Also, the Abbot and teacher of individual liberation, the teacher from whom the Bodhisattva's precepts are sought, the teacher from whom the secret mantra empowerment is sought, etc., each has extensively explained the characteristics of the teacher, but now, as it is appropriate to speak of the Great Perfection Dharma, the characteristics of the Lama from whom it is sought, then speaking: Orgyen Rinpoche said: First, the faults of the Lama are: narrow hearing but great arrogance, foolish ignorance, greedy for words and great pride, small wisdom and ignorant of meaning, distracted from the meaning of the generation and completion stages and poor practice, great self-grasping and small compassion, small pure perception and great wrong views, narrow knowledge and great partiality, if one relies on such a Lama, one will go to ruin, so one should abandon them. And, Orgyen Rinpoche also said: Practitioners of the degenerate age do not practice view and conduct according to the scriptures, they are obsessed with meditation without time for listening, they are obsessed with teaching without time for meditation, they empower others when they are not mature themselves, they guide others with key instructions when they are not liberated themselves, they pretend to understand what they have not understood, they pretend to realize what they have not realized, they pretend to be liberated when they are not liberated, they practice but are not liberated themselves.
