Those who practice will attain Buddhahood in one lifetime, it is said. Among them, this teaching of the Great Perfection, if one is fortunate and destined, one does not need to meditate; merely hearing it will bring liberation. Even if one does not have such fortune, hearing this Great Perfection teaching, as well as reading, reciting, writing, and encountering it, will cut off the gates to many lower realms. In the bardo or the next life, or within seven lifetimes, one will definitely attain Buddhahood, as said by glorious Samantabhadra. From the tantra of liberation through wearing the Great Perfection: Emaho! The yogi who holds this is greatly fortunate; the yogi who encounters this is greatly fortunate; the yogi who recites this is greatly fortunate; the yogi who reads this is greatly fortunate. This is the great self-arisen one. There is no need to meditate, for reading liberates; there is no need to practice, for wearing liberates; there is no need to study, for touching liberates; there is no need to think, for feeling liberates. This is self-liberation upon encounter; this is the self-liberation of the aggregates. It is the realm of activity for the fortunate. Furthermore, Guru Rinpoche said: To encounter this is extremely fortunate. It is difficult to encounter this unless one has accumulated merit and purified obscurations. Even if one encounters it, it is difficult for it to enter the mind. Merely not giving rise to wrong views after hearing this teaching is enough to liberate. Furthermore, a teaching that does not require meditation or practice, a profound instruction that liberates upon seeing, liberates upon hearing, and liberates upon reading, is a profound instruction that leads even the greatest sinners onto the swift path. Thus it is said that merely hearing this Great Perfection has immeasurable benefits. Having explained the benefits of hearing the Dharma, the proper conduct for listening to the Dharma is shown: From the Jataka tales: Sit on a seat that is very low. Fully cultivate the glory of gentleness. Look with eyes full of joy. Like drinking the nectar of words. Generate respect and pay attention with one-pointedness. With a very pure and stainless mind. Like a sick person listening to the doctor's words. Attend with reverence and listen to the Dharma. As it is said, therefore, one should listen to the Dharma with great respect and devotion, with body, speech, and mind focused on one point. Therefore, when the Dharma is being taught, you should not whisper, joke and laugh, sit in a high place with an irreverent body, think of other things instead of listening, or fall asleep, etc. These are not appropriate.

If done in this way, there will be a great offense of disrespecting the Dharma, and the Dharma lords will also be displeased. It is said that it is not appropriate to teach in such a situation. It is said that the Dharma should not be taught to those who are not respectful. It should not be taught to those who are wearing hats, holding umbrellas, canes, or weapons, or covering their heads, as if they were sick. Having explained the conduct and manner of listening to the Dharma, it is not appropriate to explain to you the intention of the Dharma teacher, etc., because we ourselves are to practice it. However, the Dharma teacher sitting on a high throne is not to show off, but to honor the sacred Triple Gem of Dharma. Wearing good hats and clothes, etc., and being dignified in conduct, is not to flirt or deceive, but to make the sacred Triple Gem of Dharma appear dignified. As it is said in the White Lotus Sutra: In a clean and pleasant place, a wide cushion should be properly laid out, beautifully laid out with various colors of silk, and sit on a throne with footstools. It is said in the sutra. Wearing good hats and clothes is also said in the Sutra Requested by Blo-gros rGya-mtsho: The Dharma speaker should be clean, all actions should be cautious, should wash clean, and should wear clothes neatly. It is said in the sutra. Then, when teaching the Dharma, one should first meditate on loving-kindness, etc., and establish boundaries, and how to meditate when teaching, there is no need to explain here, it is enough for me to do it myself. Then, to receive the profound Dharma, it is necessary to gather the necessary items. Orgyen Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) said: To receive special instructions, it is necessary to have all the necessary items. If the necessary items are not complete, the Triple Gem will be punished. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare all the necessary items, that is: gifts of offering, offerings of empowerment, tsogkhor, materials for torma, restoring one's own energy, and all the necessary items should be prepared. There are two purposes for preparing in this way: temporary and ultimate. The temporary is to receive the instructions, and the ultimate is to obtain all the siddhis. It is said in the sutra, so if the disciples have wealth, they should not be stingy and should prepare everything completely. If there is really no wealth, one can listen according to the amount of wealth one has. In the past, even if the great accomplished ones did not have wealth, they would offer their body, speech, and practice to the lama.
