May each understand their own mind! Thus it is said. Āryadeva said: Those who wish to attain Buddhahood by abiding in the Vajrayana should please the virtuous spiritual friend and seek the very nature of their own mind. Thus it is said. In the *Ratnakūṭa Sūtra* it says: Thus, search for the mind completely: Which is that mind that has become desirous, that has become hateful, or that has become deluded? Is it past, future, or something that arises in the present? To that, the past mind is exhausted, the future has not yet come, and the present arising has no abiding. Thus one thinks. As it says in the *Bodhisattva Piṭaka*: Śāriputra, what precedes the perfection of meditation? It is like this: the definite realization of mind precedes it. Thus it is said. In the *Inconceivable Tantra* it says: The ultimate of all dharmas, the realm where nature does not abide, the mind without views, with this one will see the great seal. All is the nature of mind. Thus it is said. In the *Guhyagarbha Tantra* it says: If the elephant of the mind is not tamed, it is confused if it stays in a place of distraction. Thus it is said. If one does not see one's own mind, it is confused if one speaks of great pride. It is confused if one teaches black and white dharmas without experiencing self-awareness. Thus it is said. In order to cut off the bad views of seeking self, and the biases in the views, and whatever desires the ultimate Madhyamaka, the very nature of mind is definitely explained. Thus it is said. From self-awareness, delusion arises, other-awareness appears. From mind itself, delusion arises, habitual tendencies arise. Then, the delusions of one's own mind are purified, and the meaning appears greatly. Though unborn, one is deluded into being born. The iron-burned ground is one's own mind, there is no other that makes the fire. Hunger, thirst, and suffering are one's own mind, there is no other that stops food and drink. Beating, slaughtering, and melting are one's own mind, there is no other butcher who kills. Therefore, if all sentient beings do not know the six aggregates, objects and object-possessors, as interdependent mind, then they have abandoned the Buddha. There is no Buddha other than mind itself, and there is no other dharma other than mind. Even the Buddha has not seen, has not spoken, and will not speak. Therefore, the secret of the mind of all sentient beings, this is the supreme of secrets, the secret of body, speech, and mind.

This mind-treasury is a secret treasury, a treasury of self-awareness wisdom fire. Therefore, for those who desire accomplishment, this is the great secret of the mind. Buddhas and lamas would not give it up even for their lives. Do not be distracted, always abide! Thus it is said. Also, the subject Do-ha said: The single nature of mind is the seed of all. From it arise samsara and nirvana. To the mind, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, which perfectly bestows desired fruits, I prostrate! If the mind is bound, it becomes bondage. If it is liberated, there is no doubt! Thus it is said. Also, in the Praise of Dharmadhatu, it is said: The mind is seen as two kinds, namely, worldly and beyond worldly. Grasping at self is samsara. If one knows them separately, that is it! Thus it is said. Also, in the Sutra of the Various Sports of Avalokiteshvara, it is said: Just as on a great road, kings and beggars and all others travel, so from the great road of the mind, all sentient beings and Buddhas travel. Therefore, yogis should diligently apply themselves to the path of the mind! Thus it is said. Also, in Ganga Ma, it is said: For example, if one tree is cut down, a hundred thousand branches wither. Likewise, if the root of the mind is cut, the leaves of samsara wither! Thus it is said. Also, the words of Orgyen Rinpoche (Padmasambhava): Now the appearance of mind is clear. This, which has not been established as a name, the three beginnings, middles, and ends, the three arising, abiding, and ceasing, should be investigated and cut off! First, from where does it arise? How does it arise? Its form, color, characteristics, dwelling place, reality, essence, and attributes should be well determined, circled, and looked at! If you are attached to the side of emptiness, you should be extremely diligent! Thus it is said. Then, the abiding in the middle, and the final place of going, etc., should be well examined, and it is very important to let them look at the essence! Thus it is said. The meaning of these, in the Vajra Verses, it is said: Whatever you think, think; whatever you remember, remember; whatever you see, see; whatever you know, know; look at the face! Thus it is said. Its commentary, spoken by the Great Compassionate One (Avalokiteshvara): Whatever you think, think; what you think, think; whatever you remember, remember; what you remember; whatever you see, see; whatever you know, know; look at the essence! Thus it is said. This is its meaning, so from now until tomorrow before the Dharma session, it is very important for you all to carefully search for your own mind! Is your mind inside the body or outside? If it is inside, is it in the five organs, the six hollow organs, or the brain at the top of the head?
