And so forth, through purification by mantras, contemplate everything as non-objective, like the sky. However, the one who thinks of emptiness, that too is conceptual thought. Conceptual thought and ignorance are the root of samsara. Because in the sutras, tantras, and oral instruction texts, it is said that everything is emptiness, and that merit, sin, cause, and effect are not established in emptiness. Merely having a slight understanding of what is said, one becomes self-satisfied, belittles cause and effect, violates vows and commitments, and speaks highly of the Dharma, saying that everything is emptiness. That is the view of the black, unrestrained demon, as clearly shown by the descendants of Ruta in history, which is the cause of ruin due to wrong views about emptiness. In order to cut the root of samsara, emptiness is an axe, therefore, practicing that emptiness, thinking to cut the five poisons and the root of samsara, if one separately grasps what should be abandoned and the antidotes, then one has not understood its meaning. If one falls into the antidotes, then it contradicts the path of Mahamudra and Dzogchen. With conceptual thought and ignorance as the root of samsara, wanting to cultivate non-conceptual wisdom that is without conceptual thought, but that is the view of the Chinese Heshang, therefore one should understand its key points. Because conceptual thought and wisdom are the Dharmakaya, there is no awareness or unawareness, memory or non-memory. If one thinks that the essence abides in the Dharmakaya itself, merely having a slight understanding, one becomes self-satisfied, lying down at will, and acting without restraint, that is straying into the path of practice in terms of view. Seeing a skilled swimmer swimming in the water, one who does not know how to swim jumps into the water, it is similar. Even if one has extensive learning and good understanding, if one does not actually realize the view of emptiness, one must rely on the power of meditation to arise from within. ... Here, a very important key is encountered. Please bless me, who am like an ocean of diligence, so that realization may arise from within. This is a requested note. Furthermore, there is a risk of confusing experience and realization. Like a clear, cloudless sky, there is no shape or color, but it can be seen. Although it cannot be expressed in words, it can be experienced. The holding of certainty is long, and there is great faith, it is stable, and there is almost no change day and night. The body and mind are enveloped in a warm glow, feeling happy. The heart channels are relaxed, and the afflictions are suppressed. Actions are reduced, and attachment and clinging naturally subside. All outer and inner phenomena are seen as emptiness. One thinks that one can pass through mountains and stone walls without obstruction. Everything is clearly seen as emptiness. However, if one clings to the thought "it is emptiness," even if it is slight, it is impermanent and changes greatly.
