Like vanishing into the sky, without contemplating anything, let the mind relax in its natural state. Meditating on sleep in this way transforms sleep into luminosity, and meditating in the same way at the time of death allows the mind to remain in luminosity at the moment of death. Remaining in this state is the same as meditating on a deity, circumambulating, and offering to the guru; this is called the yoga of the guru's Dharmakaya. The Hevajra Tantra states: There is no meditation, nor a meditator; without a deity, there is no mantra. In the nature free from elaboration, deities and mantras truly abide. Vairochana, Akshobhya, Amoghasiddhi, and Ratnasambhava are bodhisattvas. And the Vajrasekhara Sutra states: The characteristic of all mantras is the mind of all Buddhas; it is what accomplishes the essence of Dharma, and is perfectly in accordance with the Dharmadhatu; it is said to be the characteristic of mantra. And the Akashagarbha Sutra states: Just as water is placed in water, just as butter is placed in butter, whatever is well seen by one's own wisdom, that is prostration here. Therefore, do not alter the mind; let it rest naturally. Thus concludes the fifth Dharma-seed. Then, the sixth Dharma-seed is from the text: Then look inward at the mind, not remembering anything, like ignorance; abiding in that is recognition. Explaining its meaning: First, recognize the faults of not meditating, the benefits of meditating, and what to meditate on. There are four: object, time, actual practice. First, if one knows the Dharma but does not meditate, it is like dying of thirst at the edge of the ocean. The Noble Array of Trees Sutra states: Merely hearing does not accomplish the true Buddha's teachings. For example, some are carried away by a river, helplessly swept away, and die of thirst. Not meditating on the Dharma is the same. And the Ratnakuta Sutra states: Shariputra, for example, if someone is carried away by a great ocean or river and dies of thirst. Shariputra, similarly, many renunciants and Brahmins learn many teachings and understand them all, but do not eliminate attachment to desire, do not eliminate attachment to hatred, do not eliminate attachment to ignorance. These people are carried away by the ocean of Dharma and die of the thirst of afflictions, and will fall into the lower realms.

And, in the Sutra Requested by Light Protector, it says: 'Just as a person dies of thirst in the ocean, a monk, even if he hears a lot, is satisfied by hearing, but if he does not abandon afflictions, he will be born in the lower realms.' And, in the Noble Tree Ornament Sutra, it says: 'Hearing a lot of Dharma but not practicing it is like a poor person counting other people's wealth, but having nothing for himself.' And, in the Sutra Collection, it says: 'Without cultivating the Dharma, one will not see the nature of Dharma, just as seeing and hearing water, but not drinking it, will not quench thirst.' And, in the Tree Arrangement Sutra, it says: 'Just as giving food and drink to many travelers, but oneself dying of hunger, not cultivating the Dharma is the same. Just as in a treasury of wealth, counting many jewels, but not obtaining even a speck, not cultivating the Dharma is the same.' And, in the Great Collection, it says: 'For example, a deaf musician, others are delighted by his music, but he himself cannot hear it, not cultivating the Dharma is the same. Rivers flow from the ocean, boats and rafts rely on it, others are liberated by it, but he himself drowns in the water, not cultivating the Dharma is the same.' Therefore, it is said that even if one is proficient in the Dharma, it is useless if one does not cultivate it oneself, and even ordinary people should practice without feeling ashamed after receiving guidance, which is very important. Second, the benefits of cultivation are: In the Samadhi King Sutra, it says: 'Compared to placing all sentient beings of the three realms on the path of the ten virtues, having faith in the selflessness of the Dharma and taking seven steps towards a solitary place, the merit is greater.' And, in the Sutra of Definitely Showing the Reality, it says: 'Shariputra, compared to listening to the Dharma for ten kalpas, cultivating the meaning of reality for the time it takes to snap one's fingers, the merit increases more. Shariputra, therefore, this samadhi of reality should be diligently taught to others. Shariputra, all Bodhisattvas in the Buddha's teachings abide in this samadhi.' The Buddha said. In the Great Deliberation Sutra, it says: 'If one enters a session of meditation for a moment, it is more meaningful than giving life to people filling the three realms.' And, in the Sutra of Entering the Holy Teaching, it says: 'To all sentient beings, until the end of their lives, giving life'
