Where do I arise? From great joy, with eyes moistened by tears, and body hairs standing on end, that is where the seed of perfect Bodhi-mind arises, that is the most stable vessel. Therein, the truth of the ultimate meaning should be taught, so it is said. However, there are also mistakes in this. Some people tremble, cry, laugh, and feel uneasy, and afterwards, they do not believe in the Dharma, and their minds are rough. The larger the gathering, the more they act up, which means they are possessed by demons. Many such people perform at every moment, which means they are blessed by a great demon following them. They should be expelled with fierce visualizations of dispelling obstacles. If you cannot distinguish between good and bad, then invite the wrathful Guru or Vajrakilaya and visualize them dissolving into you. If it calms down, it is a demon; if it does not calm down, it is a sign of blessings descending. Even when the mind is peacefully abiding in a flawless state of calm abiding, with single-pointed concentration, subtle thoughts arise within. The mind does not stay within but dwells extensively like the sky. The clinging to the thought that the mind dwells in the sphere of infinite space. The mind that dwells is the mind, it has no inside or outside, no beginning or end, it is infinite. The clinging to the single thought that the mind dwells in the sphere of infinite consciousness. The mind that dwells in that way has no form, color, or object. The clinging to the single thought that the mind dwells in the sphere of nothingness. The mind that dwells is the mind, it is neither existent nor non-existent. The clinging to the single thought that the mind dwells in the sphere of neither existence nor non-existence. It is good even if those arise for a moment. In the past, when the Bodhisattva Prince Siddhartha practiced austerities for six years, he seems to have meditated on those as well. For six years near the Nairanjana River, he practiced austerities, perfected his diligence, and attained the supreme meditation. I prostrate to him. So it is said. Since those are the supreme worldly meditations, if one meditates only on them, it is seen as the cause of being born in the peak of existence, the formless realm. Therefore, the Teacher abandoned them, ate milk rice, and then relied on the vajra-like samadhi to become enlightened. Those are also for accumulating merit and

Even if one is not a person with diligence, even if it doesn't arise, even if some similarities arise, it can suppress the beginning of afflictions, and can abide in the object of focus, thereby manifesting signs and becoming a basis for virtues that transcend the world. After arising extremely extensively, signs of accomplishing contaminated direct perception will also appear. These arise even in the context of single-pointedness on top of the understanding of vipassanā. These must arise first. Without attachment or clinging to this, progressing gradually will attain enlightenment. Because without the perfection of meditation, there is no way to become a Buddha. Therefore, do not underestimate it by saying "it's just śamatha," it is very important to practice abiding as much as possible. In the Bodhisattva Grounds, it says: After the Bodhisattva's perfection of the meditation pāramitā, one directly realizes unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and becomes a Buddha. One will directly realize perfect enlightenment. One will directly realize perfect enlightenment. Thus it is said. So, what is śamatha and what is vipassanā? The Victorious Maitreya said: Relying on correct abiding, in order to settle the mind on the mind, and in order to thoroughly distinguish dharmas, it is śamatha and vipassanā. Thus it is said. Therefore, equally settling the mind on the mind, not scattering anywhere, abiding in its own place, abiding serenely, calmly, and clearly, that is śamatha. Make effort to abide without the mind scattering. This completes the six essentials of Dharma. It is good to meditate on this for a long time. Next is the seventh essential of Dharma: The text says: The ordinary mind that wanders everywhere is identified as coarse. Those that are different from the ordinary mind, those that are seen clearly, are identified as awareness. Explaining the meaning of what was said: Here, first is vipassanā, and later it is recognized as śamatha-vipassanā yuganaddha. In any place, after the mind abides quietly without scattering, looking at the nature of that abiding, without forming shape, color, or things, seeing with vipassanā is vipassanā. Although not formed, it still abides clearly and brightly, abiding but the nature is not formed, these two being inseparable is śamatha-vipassanā yuganaddha. Settling the mind in its own place, not stopping but scattering, that is movement. Seeing the movement is śamatha. Looking at the nature of the movement, the nature is not formed, like water and waves.
