Now, I will explain the Great Compassion Red Instruction to you all. First, the history of the lineage of lamas is as explained in detail in the liberation stories, collections of songs, one hundred thousand songs, empowerment explanations, etc. In the root verses of this instruction, the meaning of "He He" is: From the root and explanatory tantras of Chakrasamvara, as it is said, "He is the emptiness of causes, etc.," it represents the two selflessnesses of person and phenomena. The meaning of "To the noble lamas" is: To show that the source of the Dharma is authentic, as it is said, "The connection to the lineage of the sacred Dharma is profound," this Dharma was taught by the Sixth Great Vajradhara to the Bodhisattva of the Tenth Bhumi named Buddhapa, who gave it to the supreme great accomplished one Rzapa, who gave it to the accomplished one Kyeupa, who gave it to Orgyen Padmasambhava, who directly gave it to the emanation Migyur Dorje. Thus, the lineage is close, and the breath of the dakinis has not faded, so it is a great blessing of the command. The meaning of "Supplication" is: It shows that it is necessary to have faith in such a lineage, lama, and Dharma. In the Sutra of Ten Dharmas, it is said, "For those without faith, white dharmas will not arise, just as a green sprout will not arise from a seed burned by fire." Similarly, in the Avatamsaka Sutra, it is said, "In the great place of samsara, those with little faith cannot attain the enlightenment of the Buddhas." Therefore, without faith, even if the Dharma is profound, realization will not arise. Therefore, faith is very important. In the Extensive Play Sutra, it is said, "Ananda, cultivate faith! This is what the Tathagata supplicates." If there is faith, realization will arise. In the Dhāraṇī of the Jewel Stack, it is said, "Having faith in the king and the king's Dharma,

Having faith in the conduct of the Earth Son, having faith in the unsurpassed Bodhi, the minds of the great beings will arise. Thus it is said. Therefore, having pure faith in the lineage of the Lama, having the faith of wanting to attain the Bodhi of the Buddha, having the faith of trusting in the Dharma, no matter what obstacles arise in practicing the Dharma, one should have unwavering faith in the Dharma. Even just listening to the Dharma has great benefits. In the past, when the Bhikshu Upagupta was teaching the Dharma, a dog heard the sound, reduced its obscurations, and immediately after its life ended, was born as a Deva of Paranirmitavasavartin. In India, when a Bhikshu was reciting the Sutras, a parrot heard the sound, reduced its obscurations, and immediately after its life ended, obtained a human body, and having become a renunciate, he remembered the Sutras without having to memorize them. When a Bhikshu was teaching the Dharma from the sky, a frog heard the sound, reduced its obscurations, and immediately after its life ended, was born as a Deva of the Thirty-Three (त्रयस्त्रिंश,trayastriṃśa,Thirty-Three), there is also such a story. The Bhagavan said, "By hearing, one knows the Dharmas; by hearing, one turns away from sins; by hearing, one abandons what is meaningless; by hearing, one attains Nirvana." Therefore, listen to the Dharma with devotion, reverence, and single-mindedness! Moreover, in this treatise it says, "A beggar is not fit to teach the Dharma, but I will teach a Dharma." This shows the characteristics of the Lama. In the Vajra Dakini Tantra it says, "Whoever is angry and has bristling hair, whose speech is very harsh, and who is content with qualities, do not rely on that one as a Lama." Therefore, it is necessary to examine the Lama. In the Fifty Verses on the Guru it says, "When the Lama and the disciple equally break their vows, the hero should first examine the relationship between the teacher and the disciple." Thus it is said. So, what are the characteristics of a teacher? In the Vajra Tent Tantra it says, "The Vajra Acharya has five characteristics, his near teachings are praised, Siddhis arise for the practitioner, he possesses the teachings and profound Dharma, and is skilled in all fields of knowledge, knows the fire puja mandala and mantras, has reached the other shore of Torma and Rabten, fully understands those ten things, maintains the conduct of the Shravakas, and respectfully follows the vehicle of Mantras in order, rejoices when seeing a beautiful form, and is skilled in drawing mandalas and has recitations.
