Without characteristic of nature. The three, that nature becomes one. Without going and without coming. Without cessation, utterly peaceful. Completely abandoning permanence and annihilation. Not made by the Knower of the Three Times. Realization is characterized by being inseparable from space. This alone is the ultimate truth. Each has its own characteristic of self-awareness. Thus it is said. From the vicinity of Orgyen Rinpoche: The three essential points for placing the mind are: Do not be distracted by ordinariness, do not change thoughts. Without mental fabrication, let awareness rest naturally. By this, meditation will naturally arise, but if there is distraction and change, meditation will not arise. Thus, by resting in its natural state, all subtle and coarse thoughts will lie down and subside in their own place, and the mind will naturally remain still in its own place, which is called calm abiding. Thus it was said. You all go to a secluded place and practice the seven-point posture of Vairochana. First, meditate on yourself as Great Compassion and practice a short session with the Guru Yoga. Then, dissolve the Guru into yourself, and meditate on Great Compassion dissolving into light as the syllable HRI (ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:啥), and then meditate on that also as emptiness, like a rainbow disappearing. Then, not meditating on anything is non-meditation, not cutting off the past, that is, not thinking about any past actions from today onwards. Not welcoming the future, that is, not thinking about any future actions from now on. Do not make affirmations or negations about present awareness, that is, do not think, "I will meditate like this," or remember like this, or make affirmations or negations thinking that it is not right to meditate. Loosen the mind in its natural state and just remain without distraction. Also, let the body relax in its natural state, in the key points of the body, like a rope that has been cut. The natural state of speech is to remain without saying anything, like the face of a statue. The natural state of mind is like a stream that has run dry, without any desire or intention to do this or that, remain silently. Furthermore, "calm" means that the various thoughts that arise subside, and "abiding" means that the mind will naturally remain still, so see if the mind can abide. Here, various kinds of elements also seem to arise, so some minds easily become tense and abide. There are two kinds, with faults and without faults. When the mind abides, if it feels like the stream of consciousness has been cut off, memory disappears, and nothing is remembered, and the awareness of the eye does not clearly perceive objects, and one does not feel when called, and one does not know how to get up, and one remains blankly,

Arises. Although that is a preliminary sign of the arising of meditation, it is not considered meditation. If one meditates thinking that is meditation, it is a cause for being born as an animal. Such a thing is also present in externalist bears; their bodies do not rot, freeze, or starve for three months in winter, that is their power. That is called approximate cessation. Although there is no possibility of the actual cessation of the Hearers arising in ordinary beings, if no conceptual thoughts arise in the mind and the mind remains still without any object of focus, even if called, the clarity of hearing, sight, etc., will not cease.

Look closely! It will return to its original place without being seen. In general, if it is too tight, it will not stay, so relax your body and mind, and keep it in a state of non-distraction, and it will naturally abide. Some people feel that the mind is slightly calm, and this time is good. It will scatter far away and run away. Feeling that it is not good, pull it back and let it abide a little. Such a situation will happen often. For this situation, look at where the thought of scattering arises from in the first place when it scatters? Look at what kind of state it is in now? Look at where the thought that scatters from now on will eventually go, and you will see that these three are essentially empty. For example, just like cutting a bamboo from a bamboo forest and seeing that it is empty inside, know that all thoughts are the same. When you realize that a thought has no self-nature and is free from the three aspects of arising, ceasing, and abiding, know that all thoughts are the same. In general, because this time is the stage of practicing quiescence, for the time being, try to keep the mind from scattering and abide as much as possible. If it scatters, pull it back and try to abide as much as possible. See how long you can keep the mind from scattering and abiding. Moreover, that is not unclear sleep and dullness, but the mind abides in a single-pointed, clear, bright, and naked state. If the body and mind naturally feel comfortable, it is called the arising of common quiescence. It is called abiding arising. It is called abiding degenerating arising. It belongs to the perfection of meditation among the six perfections. Some people say that they are worried about falling into quiescence, so they make bad noises. If quiescence arises as it is, it can also suppress the root of afflictions. All the signs of accomplishing common siddhis arise from this. The heretic hermits can fly to five hundred yojanas and so on, and there seem to be countless signs of accomplishing defiled siddhis, which are also the power of quiescence. Just like large clouds, the greater the quiescence arises, the greater the qualities of insight become. Just like a small cloud has only a few raindrops, if quiescence does not arise, even if insight is introduced, it is only like dry land and will not be effective. In general, the quiescence without characteristics says to let the mind abide without any change, and to abide in a state of no object of focus, these are also in the preliminary practices. Both quiescence and insight
