The two paths of going forth are extremely important. This refers to the oral instructions on Mahamudra, Dzogchen, Yuganaddha, and Great Compassion, which encompass all the practices of the nine vehicles. Therefore, the paths, grounds, and fruits are also included. The great accomplished Karma Pakshi said: "Understanding the words and meanings of the nine vehicles, blessed by the lineage of Naropa, the yogi Rangjung Dorje also met the pure vision of Saraha. The teachings of the Buddhas are like a vast ocean, boundless and unfathomable. Those with superior, middling, and inferior faculties, some attain enlightenment through practice. Those who mature all at once, their realization and attainment occur simultaneously, like Samantabhadra. Whether traversing or not traversing the paths and grounds, it pervades all of samsara and nirvana. The stages of the paths and grounds are twenty-one. In the ultimate Ogmin, all is complete, a single common ground. The state of being is the Dharmadhatu of Kuntuzangpo. Dzogchen Atiyoga transcends all vehicles, yet the stages of paths and grounds are also sixteen. In the ultimate Ogmin, from the beginning, all is naturally perfect. The distinctions of fruits, paths, and signs are spontaneously accomplished without effort, perfected in the realm of self-awareness, Ogmin." Thus it is said. (27) Homage to Great Compassion! The profound secret instructions of Great Compassion, how to traverse the paths and grounds by practicing this. The root verses of the Great Instructions state: "One-pointed, abiding in the meaning of inseparable shamatha and vipashyana." Dagpo Rinpoche said: "The yoga of one-pointedness is clear and uninterrupted, that is the momentary awareness." The mind isolation spoken of in Nagarjuna's Five Stages, the spontaneously accomplished yoga spoken of by Lawapa, the yoga of experiencing samadhi by Shawaripa, the time of cutting conceptual elaborations by Maitripa, and the selflessness yoga spoken of in the Lankavatara Sutra, the essence of the six dharmas of child-like enjoyment samadhi, and the meaning of the vase empowerment, these are all considered to be of the same meaning. Phagmo Drupa said: "Obtain mastery over the samadhi of middling one-pointedness." If middling one-pointedness, the alternation of clarity and emptiness, is grasped by mindfulness, even if it cannot be continuously grasped, it can occasionally arise, this is called the heat and peak of the path of joining. If the experience becomes stable, and clarity and emptiness are grasped by mindfulness, it can be continuous. Even if it cannot be grasped occasionally, it can arise. Phagdru said: Great one-pointedness

Oh, it has entered the atmosphere of experience. As the oral instructions of the lineage of accomplished ones say, "Even without the meditation of experience, it is the yoga of one-pointedness among the four yogas of realization." My teacher, the great scholar Gyalrongpa, said, "During the stage of the Dharma Supreme of the path of application, even if you think you have directly realized emptiness, you have not yet perfected emptiness." These seem to be the same meaning. The difference between one-pointedness and freedom from elaboration is whether or not conceptual thoughts arise as the Dharmakaya. In the Sutra of the Great River of Āli and Kālī, it says, "Secondly, with the samadhi like an illusion, from the great equanimity free from elaboration, inconceivable samadhi power arises. After obtaining warmth, one becomes independent of birth." And so on. Je Dagpo Rinpoche said, "The yoga of freedom from elaboration is seeing the nature of awareness as unborn, not expecting to become a Buddha upwards, not fearing samsara downwards, and not clinging to appearances in between. It cannot be transformed by others." In the Five Stages, the inconceivable of luminosity and Lavapa, and the yoga of Shavaripa, the time when Maitripa obtains power, and in the Lankavatara Sutra, the formless yoga, the contemplation of the meaning of good discrimination, and the meaning of secret empowerment, are all considered the same. Seeing the nature of freedom from elaboration, as the Compendium Sutra says, "Not seeing forms, nor seeing feelings, not seeing the all-knowing seer, nor seeing sentient beings. Where there is no seeing of discriminating consciousness and mind, this is seeing the Dharma, thus it is guided and proclaimed. Seeing cannot be obtained by other metaphors, saying that sentient beings see space, one should contemplate how space is seen, thus the Tathagata has shown the seeing of the Dharma." That is the meaning. Also, Gonpa said, "Thus seeing the nature of clarity and emptiness, but if one has not separated from the clinging of the definitive understanding of clinging to emptiness, because the distinction between experience and realization has not been made, it is a small freedom from elaboration." Je Phagdru said, "The intermediate one realizes the separation from the root." The Doha says, "Who knows the meaning of separation from the root? That is the excellence of those who have received the grace of the guru." Phagmo Drupa said, "Great freedom from elaboration can...
